If there's anything more satisfying than being relieved of pain caused by an aching tooth - it's when you can afford the cost of that dental procedure. Quality dental care is assured by most dentists, but there are dentists who - in their endeavors to accommodate more patients waiting every day - deliberately perform procedures faster than they normally should when the clinic is not filled with patients. It is the moral undertaking and the sworn Hippocratic Oath of the dentist to never compromise a patient's health and recovery, more so if the latter is under financial hardships. citation flow backlinks

Water softener service
posted by Martha Dalton on June 5th, 2018 7:52 AM
Hi friends, I work at an IT firm in Calgary. I find it very difficult to wash dishes, clothes, and bathroom before leaving for work. I think there is some issue with my softener system. When soap is added to hard water, the insoluble scums stick on clothes. It takes me about an hour to clean the dishes. The bathroom shower and the pipes are also getting damaged. I am thinking of replacing it with . I am also searching for the best water softening service who will guarantee good results. I am not 100% sure if it due to the hard water but my hair has started to become dry, rough and tangled. Any idea where I can find a good service? Do you guys any other DIY to make the water soft? Awaiting your valuable suggestions.

non residents after hours at the pool
posted by connie on June 8th, 2015 6:08 PM
I also live across the street from the pool and understand the concerns people have about how I came to the conclusion about resident vs non resident. For the last week we have been watching in the evenings to see if any of the people that we suspect are non residents leave with a pool pass with them and I have not seen one person that seems to have one. Now, I guess they could all be people that keep theirs hidden well unlike most of the residents I see there with their keys. Also, my housemate has been observing how people are getting in for the last few weeks and sees an increase of the number of people waiting in the park outside the gate for the lifeguards to leave and then one person or two either walks in with a resident or they ask to be let in. It is uncomfortable to say no, feels bad. But, once one person gets in then they let in their freinds and family. As a business owner I am very aware of liability issues and would hate to see the evening swim ruined for all of us because of this. Either we need to pay to have the life guards there until 10 and we would be the ones paying for that or the resident only rule needs to be infourced. I can guarantee there will one really sad 10 year old fish named Lauren as well as her grandparents who will be very upset to lose our evening swim time! Connie
Problem wiith Meritage Homes
posted by danx111 on June 3rd, 2015 9:10 AM
Gerry, our problem was not structural. Reading the code it appears that "structural" pertains to material behind the plastic sheathing. My point to Meritage was that they flashed the garage openings and weather windows on some homes and caulked others while all other builders flashed all of their homes. When Meritage told me I should re-caulk annually I went to management. Waiting for response

Transportation Committee Meeting notes 25 Feb 2015

-Aldrich roundabout - plans have been completed a long time (by Catellus) and we’re waiting on the City. Apparently the project is on hold while City identifies needed funding (thought it was in bond package???)-First part of the SE Greenway (orchard) will be finished in the next few weeks-Next park/pool (John Gaines park) with late summer opening-Catellus will deliver the next group of lots to builders next week (up to Zach Scott)-Zach Scott will be paved next week-Northbound side of Berkman will be opened up to Zach Scott in early April-Catellus has the permit to extend Berkman to Philomena and they’re working on the permit for next phase of lots (Section 9). Those lots should be delivered to builders late 2015 or early 2016.-Catellus is working on road extensions in Town Center in phases. Philomena and Robert Browning extensions to Mueller Blvd will start in July and complete early next year. Aldrich should be completed up to Robert Browning in July.-Mueller is currently served by routes 37 and 320 (and 20). Old CR shuttle discontinued-Minor mods to 320 to serve market district have been successful. About 50 boarding at this location.-Future changes to routes to utilize Berkman have to wait until Berkman is completed because they can’t traverse the interim changes from one side to the other. Potential changes to route 20 may be proposed for June 2016 changes, but public involvement will be critical as changes would impact 3 stops on Manor, including the stop at Lovell that has good ridership.-June changes - Route 37 will be extended to HEB/Barbara Jordan. Public outreach is underway. Go to in middle of homepage to provide input and get more information. Public open houses are planned on March 9 and 10-Most used stops in Mueller are BJ/Berkman, Lancaster/BJ, Mosaic-CapMetro is conducting random origin/destination surveys on board-Mr. Deeter didn’t have ridership data on the #20 route with him-Catellus appears to be pursuing creation of a working group to discuss Berkman issues in more detail-The City has deployed their dynamic speed sign twice-Catellus has worked with APD community patrol re: directed patrols for enforcement-They’re planning to restripe Berkman from ZS to Robert Browning to visually narrow the roadway-Catellus says that roundabouts could still be added later if determined to be necessary, without major rework of infrastructure. (Traffic control would be an issue) Girard Kinney expressed a desire not to preclude possibility of rail in the future.-PTMD ordinance passed to set up pilot district in Mueller (Feb 2014)-Doesn’t officially include parking lot at Lake Park since our POA controls the parking lot. That will be handled separately, probably through a contract with the city so all meters can be managed by the city. -PTMD yields 51% of revenue to district. In parking lot owned by POA, 100% of proceeds after expenses go to the district-Ordinance 12-7-2(b) - proceeds go to projects that aid in the management of flow of traffic within the district. ROW improvements help with pedestrian flow as well as vehicular or bike traffic (pedestrian wayfinding, etc.) and these types of projects were included in the Mueller application which was approved by Council.-RPP meetings have been held (2 meetings - general and shop house owners). FAQs are being developed.-HDR completed another parking occupation study (Scales to Garcia) on a Thursday and a Saturday in February and turned data over to the City for consideration in setting up the initial RPP area.-Dee gave highlights of changes to improve access to/from Mueller (highlighted at TxDOT’s 2/24 meeting for MNA)-Cherrywood will oppose NB exit to 38th (would take property abutting I-35 from Edgewood to 38 1/2). They might reconsider if they had good modeling to show the impacts to their streets with and without this exit.-Philomena was built as a possible HOV entry/exit and TxDOT and Catellus are evaluating connecting Philomena through to the northbound frontage road

We're definitely weighing our options right now and still waiting for the last request. They originally offered something really low and we were very unhappy with it. We've gone back and forth trying to get to a number we both agree on. They have agreed to give us back our earnest money and the money that we have already put down for upgrades so that will be our backup plan. One big thing is this particular property is a corner lot and right across the street from the new park so it's a really hot property, which is something hard for us to give up.Just a waiting game at this time..

Pedestrians' right of way?
posted by Sol Acosta-Houston on May 14th, 2014 11:04 AM
I was coming home this morning on Berkman Dr going south, I turned right onto Camacho and felt something hit my car. In my rear view mirror I saw a jogger, who apparently was annoyed at my not giving her the right of way. This in turn, really pissed me off because I thought she was just unwilling to slow down her pace. This has happened a couple of times lately --and every time it has happened at a busy intersection near construction on Berkman. I am a pretty civil driver who understands I have the advantage and should treat pedestrians like the fragile beings they are compared to my very heavy vehicle. I typically practice defensive driving and the only times I don't make a full stop to give the right of way is if I see the car coming behind me not slowing down and I fear I will be rear ended. Berkman has become a dangerous street and this happens quite often, unfortunately. Those of us who live there have seen ALL kinds of dangerous behavior on the road (joggers and walkers on the street, drivers who don't slow down for bikes, bikes who don't use the bike lane, etc.) So, I got to thinking, perhaps I'm in the wrong and I am the one who is misinterpreting the law. I thought in Texas the pedestrian only has the right of way if using a MARKED crosswalk. Otherwise, drivers would have to stop at every corner if a pedestrian is waiting to cross, right? This is all I could find online: "A pedestrian shall yield the right-of-way to a vehicle on the highway if crossing a roadway at a place other than in a marked crosswalk or in an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection;" "the operator of a vehicle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with a pedestrian on a roadway; give warning by sounding the horn when necessary; and exercise proper precaution on observing a child or an obviously confused or incapacitated person on a roadway." Any experts out there who can help?

Cars racing on Berkman and Philomena
posted by Liz E on April 15th, 2014 12:52 PM
It's definitely a regular occurrence, and the crazy thing is that I can never even get out there in time to figure out the make/model of the cars. Some of them even look like they might have parts from different kinds of cars all put together. Other than some kind of security camera, I don't know if the police will be able to catch these people. Surely they don't have enough extra manpower to just put someone in a car at a construction site waiting for speeders. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask.
What do you think of Blanton?

Thanks everyone.Rick, yes, feel free to share on the Windsor Park list, though I'm not sure how to check that one--would you forward any responses? Do you have a child that goes to Blanton? What do you think?Brandon, I'm shocked you got a letter! I'm sorry you got wait listed. Hopefully they will create a third K class. I don't know why they don't do dual language for the entire school, which I've been told is how Ridgetop does it. I'm still waiting for my letter. And my fear is that AISD or the school will change their minds and then my daughter won't be in the DL program, after I've turned down the private schools. Do you think you'll still send your daughter to Blanton anyway?Lydia, that's great to hear. If we decide on Blanton, we'd definitely love a meet up first. My daughter is worried she won't know anyone at school. And we'd love a meet up anyway--it sounds like there's several K-aged girls in our part of the neighborhood.Andrea, do you think you'll send your daughter or are you also debating private schools? Thanks!Andrea

Does anyone's child attend Blanton or is going to attend Blanton next year? Are you satisfied with the school? What do you think? My daughter will start K in the fall. She has a spot in the dual language program at Blanton (though I'm still waiting for the formal letter), and I'm deciding whether to send her there, Kirby Hall, or St. Francis. For a lot of reasons, I'd prefer public school, but AISD administration seems to be a bit of a mess--for instance letters about the dual language program were supposed to go out a month ago, and I still haven't received mine. I'd feel much better hearing other people's positive (or even neutral) experiences. Thanks! Andrea

Transportation Committee meeting notes 26 Feb 2014

Transportation Committee Meeting notes26 February 2014 (Jill)2012 Mobility bond project - money allocated and public/private partnership1st step - preliminary engineering report (how does plan fit with existing utilities, etc., construction cost estimates). Atkins has been hired to do this work over the next 6 months. Looking at I-35 to Berkman. There will be opportunities for public engagement... nothing specific yet. (Rick K - Windsor Park)Berkman intersection function - WB traffic on 51st is so heavy after road diet that the left turn from EB 51st onto Berkman has a hard time finding a gap for a permissive left turn.Pedestrian signal crossing 51st at Vaughn & Bartholomew Pool - Windsor Park would like active when pool opens. City developing criteria for pedestrian hybrid beacons. City recommended calling 311 which will trigger the start of the study process. (Catellus/City)-- Route recently published as recommended to City Council (maps, etc. online). More definition on northern route (Airport or I-35) is expected this Spring, along with mode (urban rail vs BRT) and funding options.-- More public outreach likely-- Route west of I-35 increases the need for good biking/walking connections across I-35. How is this planning being coordinated with Mobility35 and City’s support for that? Parties commenting on either project may want to note. If Mobility35 makes access to the northern route more difficult, that will negatively impact ridership. (Dee) - TxDOT’s long-range plan through Austin under development-- Cherrywood NA getting engaged quickly-- Mueller NA engaged-- TxDOT will present at RMMA PIAC March 11 meeting at Carver Library-- HDR hasn’t looked at the impacts to Mueller TIA yet. They’re waiting for TxDOT to evaluate prior comments and make possible adjustments. The risk of TxDOT getting too set on a design before the impacts to Mueller are known was debated. (Carl)-- Berkman full section from 51st to Philomena within 30 days-- Section 7 (southern part behind Wildflower Terrace) is under construction along with the 1st phase of the last detention pond. -- Catellus expects to finish southern lots by summer & turn over to builders-- Then Catellus will proceed northward up to Zach Scott, starting this summer. As part of that, they’ll complete the full section of Berkman from Manor to Zach Scott near the end of 2014.-- They’ll start on the next neighborhood park in Sept. with a goal of opening the 2nd pool in summer 2015-- Roundabout - Catellus is responding to final comments by City. City will construct but no information yet on their schedule.--Signal at Airport and Zach Scott:----- Flashing Yellow indication replaces old green ball to indicate the permissive turn phase (proceed with caution). Nationally, drivers often misinterpret the green ball and think they have the right of way when they don’t, so the standards have changed to use a flashing yellow turn arrow instead.----- When turning left into Mueller from southbound Airport, most drivers will travel past the crosswalk to see down Airport and determine if it’s safe to proceed. That will result in drivers getting caught in front of the crosswalk (or possibly on the crosswalk) when the light turns red. We discussed moving the crosswalk to the South side of intersection to avoid this conflict. I was told to call 311 so if anyone else thinks this would be an improvement, please also call them. It was pointed out that the City’s Complete Streets policy requires crosswalks on both sides of each street, not just one.-- Making the Mattie/McBee intersection a 4-way stop due to limited visibility for eastbound drivers on McBee to see southbound traffic on Mattie approach the intersection. Catellus says the problem is due to temporary grading that will be cut down when the NW corner is developed. The City said they would look into it but they seem reluctant to install a 4-way stop, even a temporary one. Call 311 to pursue.-- Sight distance at Zach Scott at Berkman - I mentioned this as well but we only had time for a brief discussion. It was pointed out that if we want wide-open sight distance at all intersections, you won’t have buildings near the corners and you would have to eliminate a lot of parking. Both are counter to our sort of development. It was also pointed out that the parked cars are a buffer, so stop prior to the crosswalk, if no pedestrians are coming, pull up to even with the parked cars and then look for traffic on Berkman. I’m just repeating what I heard so don’t shoot the messenger! If that doesn’t work, call 311.-- Berkman Dr. Traffic Study completed and will review with City and scope out options. Catellus says they will set up meeting with Berkman residents soon. Good turnout of residents will be important.-- Discussed whether the opening of the Thinkery necessitates the opening of the additional left turn lane from southbound Airport onto Aldrich. Over the holidays traffic backed up into the through lanes on Airport, but perhaps that was just due to the holidays. Catellus says they’ll monitor the intersection for backups. If you feel this is a problem, call 311. -- The City will be installing a new traffic signal on 51st at Mueller Blvd. in the next few weeks.
Traffic Light at Airport and Zach Scott - Blinking Yellow?

Well the light I didn't want is up and running now and I am not understanding how it is working at all. It goes from red to green right arrows and 1 yellow blinking left arrow. I hope this is temporary and will be fixed but why is traffic stopped both ways on Airport and yet Zach Scott only gets a yellow blinking arrow? We are waiting at a red light then it changes and I have to honk to get traffic to turn left, what is the point of the light if we are not going to get a green left arrow. I assume its temporary or just a glitch but that seems like a pretty bad mistake by someone. Also during non-peak times (all times not 7-9:30 am, 4-6 pm) can we not have it how it was first installed with the blinking yellow on airport and blinking red on Zach Scott. No need to be at a red light at 11 pm on Tuesday night when there is no traffic, they do this to lights on Burnet rd.
Any interest in a Mueller community pre-school?

Have you checked It's a lottery based, dual language charter school, serving the 78723 zip code. They will open in the fall and are located in East Austin. They're starting with pre-K and K and will add upper grades each year.Escuelita del Alma, with a Spanish immersion program, is another daycare/preschool option. My daughter, a 10-year-old now, spent a wonderful time there. It's located on I-35 and 32nd street. The problem, though, is that it has a long waiting list.My two cents,Monica
