Window Screen Replacement
posted by Lorrie on November 13th, 2011 1:16 PM
I just had a window screen replaced at Northwest Hardware. They did a great job and also take Go Local cards for a 10% discount. Just drop your screen off and it will be ready for pickup in about a week. (the guy who does the work is named Tracy). Cost was $15 before discount. Love to support a local business. Really nice people! Here is their info on Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/northwest-hardware-austin
Pool closed. Alternative: Youssou N'Dour!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youssou_N'Dour (you might have to cut and paste: the apostrophe is there...but doesn't seem to get picked up as a full link here). Thus: "Youssou N'Dour (French pronunciation: [jusu nˈduʁ]; born 1 October 1959 ) is a Senegalese singer, percussionist and occasional actor. In 2004, Rolling Stone described him as, in Senegal and much of Africa, "perhaps the most famous singer alive."[1] He helped develop a style of popular music in Senegal, known in the Serer language as mbalax. He is the subject of the award-winning films Return to Goree directed by Pierre-Yves Borgeaud and Youssou N'Dour: I Bring What I Love directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, which were released theatrically around the world."and: "Youssou N'Dour is one of the most celebrated African musicians in history. A renowned singer, songwriter, and composer, Youssou's mix of traditional Senegalese mbalax with eclectic influences ranging from Cuban samba to hip hop, jazz, and soul has won him an international fan base of millions. In the West, Youssou has collaborated with musicians Peter Gabriel,[2] Axelle Red,[3] Sting,[4] Alan Stivell,[5] Bran Van 3000,[6] Neneh Cherry,[7] Wyclef Jean,[4] Paul Simon,[7] Bruce Springsteen, Tracy Chapman, Branford Marsalis, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Dido and others. In Senegal, Youssou is a powerful cultural icon actively involved in social issues.""He is endowed with remarkable range and poise, a composer, bandleader, and producer with a prodigious musical intelligence. The New York Times described his voice as an "arresting tenor, a supple weapon deployed with prophetic authority".[8] N'Dour absorbs the entire Senegalese musical spectrum in his work, often filtering this through the lens of genre-defying rock or pop music from outside Senegalese culture. And about the album "Egypt" in the discography:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egypt_(album)Iced Mint tea and Youssou N'Dour may be not quite the same as a cool dip, but...just trying to be helpful here. I can't help but wonder if his anchoring of sound in the album "Egypt" has helped with respect to the prospect of freedom and democracy for people there now. In this one album he and his musician friends 'united' the music of western Africa with that of central Africa. If not a good suggestion: Hey, I just work here on Earth.
Home for rent in Mueller?

Hi Felicia, My name is Tracy Blalock. I own a three bedroom house on Camacho and my current renters are suppose to be out by May 10th (they are buildng a house in Mueller and should close on it by end of April). It's about 1550 sq. ft. and has a decent sized yard for Mueller. 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths. Master downstairs with the other two bedrooms upstairs. Do you think this would fit their needs? My cell is 512-560-4684. It's a great house and I'm sure my current renter wouldn't mind if your friends stopped by, with notice. Thanks Tracy
