cats in gardens

I don't understand the disconnect here. How is letting your cat poop in someones yard different from letting a dog? Cat poop can be hazardous (http://www.cdc.gov/healthypets/pregnant.htm). This is not *just* a courtesy thing (but why isn't that enough?). My dogs are not large yet I always pick up after them and don't let them roam the neighborhood. It just seems the neighborly thing to do.

Hold on there, neighbors! No need for the radical catslamic fundamentalists to declare jihad against shelley hiam for her offense to catallah. But on another note, I was wondering if it'd be OK if I let my dog come do his business on your welcome mat? Hey, it’s just a little steamy pile . . . What’s it to you if you’re the one having to pick it up? Just ‘cause I’m his owner doesn’t mean I’m responsible for ALL of his stuff. For that matter, so what if he barks all night and day and keeps others bothered. I’m gone all day and I listen to Glenn Beck all night long - so I can‘t hear any dog barking over that noise. It’s not bothering ME . . . and isn’t that what REALLY matters? MY peace and happiness? And while we’re at it, how ‘bout all ya’ll chipping in each month for his food. I buy the good organic natural balance stuff, and it’s kinda pricey - so it’d be really swell if ya’ll would take care of that for me. K? On a more creative note, I've heard that wolverines are a good cat deterrent. Just one of them chained near your garden will keep cats away for GOOD! Disclaimer: before you reach for your keyboard - the above message is intended as tongue-in-cheek, entertaining sarcasm and is not intended to be taken literally or seriously, as the responder is rarely known to be either. I have no intention of leaving “business” on anyone‘s welcome mat, have no expectations of others purchasing his dog food and am not callous to barking and the disruption it causes neighbors. Moreover, and perhaps most importantly, I do not listen to Glenn Beck. Wolverines are NOT recommended deterrents. Void where prohibited.
