Inflatable Screen For Mueller
posted by dreuxl on April 9th, 2011 5:23 PM
The surfaces of the suggested screens above will reflect and catch the light from your projector better than the sheet that you are using now. That should make the picture from the projector look sharper with more contrast and brighter.
Free Ninja Gifts

I wish them to "vanish quickly without trace" (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle reference for those of you that don't know). The swords come with a wooden stand and the set is black. None of the blades are sharp, but I image the swords are sharper than the butterfly knives and the sai are not sharp at all. All together or each piece separate. Let me know at taypfaff@gmail.com Merry Christmas! (ninja style)

I completely support you p.harper. I wasn't able to make the meeting last night but have become very frustrated with Jennifer and her minions after several interactions with them. She always plays dumb when it comes to anyone else ever bringing up an issue before (it's always the "first time") or having any knowledge about resolving any past issues.

You go p. harper. I just sent an email to Jennifer complaining too. I support you. I couldn't make the meeting, but I'm sick sick sick of the excuses. I think if enough of us complain, something has to be done.Fight the good fight.

We go to Twin Oaks Montessori and LOVE it! The earliest they start is 18 months, so it would be great to get on the waiting list now if you think you might be interested. Send me a PM or I'll stop by and chat with you next time I see you outside and tell you more about it. Before Twin Oaks, we had Harper at the Stepping Stone near Dell. We had an okay experience there, but not great. They were going through a change with the directors at the time, so maybe the new director has improved things. Sounds like it based on Garreth's review. Good luck!

We are big Dream Dinner Fans! The food is delicious! The process is simple and even better, FUN! I first discovered Dream Dinners right after we had our daughter, Harper. A friend recommended that we try it out and we've been hooked ever since! Thank you Marge for extending this discount to us.... and just when I thought it couldn't get any better :)

Re: Childcare recommendations

Well if you are willing to drive north, we absolutely LOVED Bright Horizons off Mopac and Braker. We had our daughter Harper there from the time she was 9 weeks until she turned 2. The staff there is great and I loved that the rooms were cozy and had lots of natural light. Each infant room has it's own outside space too, which is nice. When we moved to Mueller, Bright Horizons was no longer convenient, so we moved her to the Stepping Stone next to Dell Children's hospital. It was fine, but we were spoiled by the staff at BH, so it didn't quite measure up to our standards. The Stepping Stone has a new director and she is making changes, so it is getting better. It is extremely convenient since it is about 1 mile from our house, but in the end we decided to look for something with higher quality. Our daughter is now at Twin Oaks Montessori (you have to be 18 mths to start) and we couldn't be happier. It is an amazing little school and comes highly recommended :) Hope that helps!

We are extremely interested in signing Harper up for this, but probably not until the fall class that starts in September. Will that be too late for her decision? I'll try to give her a call tomorrow to see how to get on the list for the fall. Thanks for passing this along! I was looking for something just like this.P.S. Glad to see you guys are back from your vaca :) See you around!
Re: Storm Last Night = Broken Windows
posted by vaneis on May 15th, 2008 6:31 AM
3 broken windows plus 2 more in the garage and glass EVERYWHERE. We also had a shard of glass stuck in the wall in our laundry room! Feeling extremely blessed that our bedroom windows and most importantly Harper's (our 2 year old) weren't broken! She slept through the whole damn storm! Any suggestions on how to get all the glass up? What a night! I'm so glad no one was hurt! Henning we called our homeowners insurance and they gave us a list of companies that will help with "clean up". We have a company coming over this morning to board up the windows. I can send them across the street when they are done, if you like?
Re: Property Tax Relief for Affordable Pioneers
posted by Southie on May 4th, 2008 12:34 AM
I just signed a contract on an affordable row house and property taxes are a concern. I am still moving and will just fight like mad to stay. When I asked Mindy about property tax structure during signing she was real vague. However, it seems that eventually the Mueller Foundation can/must help us out, as Murmur threw out there. It seems logical that since the Foundation will essentially "own" a portion of our property based on the amount they put down, and that the foundation stands to profit from a resale (25% in addition to a repayment of the amount they put down), that the Foundation would/could/hopefully be responsible for paying a portion of our property tax based on the percentage they "own." The Foundations goal is to maintain affordability and this would be a way to reach that goal. It seems like a legal mind much sharper than my own could even argue that the Foundation would be responsible for paying the taxes on what they own. To clarify what I mean, and for simplicity sake, I'll use Wilson's first uncorrected hypothetical example. We buy for $139,000 and the initial appraisal value is $199,000. This means the Foundation "owns" $60,000 of our home. For all years after that then, the Foundation owes the property tax on $60,000 of our appraisal value plus the 25% (I know it is more like 21%) of the value above $199,000. I am not smart enough to figure out the math on the amount this would save us, but it allows us affordables to continue to live at Mueller for many years to come. I am not saying I heard this anywhere, it is just a proposal I would like to throw out there as a possibility. Does anyone know of anything that would prevent this? Does anyone know why the Foundation would not go along with this (again, it seems consistent with their stated goals). And to make that possibility a reality, who controls the Mueller Foundation and its decisions? Will it always be controlled by Catellus, or will control eventually be turned over to the residents? How can we make this a reality?

Harper and I hit Emma Long yesterday but we can do some more tonight. Torie has a great system set up! When you pick up the flyers on her porch, you sign up for the street you want to do and take the bundle with that street name on it. So simple! I love organization :)

Introducing The Van Eis Family

Hi Everyone. We are Bryna, Holly and Harper Van Eis. We will be moving to Emma Long street sometime in January or February! WOW! Bryna works in software development for Oracle and Holly is a teacher with AISD. Our daughter Harper is just about to turn 2 and is our pride and joy. We have friends that live in Stapleton, which is the redevelopment that was done at the old airport in Denver, Colorado. If this is anywhere near as cool as what they did to that area in Denver, then we will just be thrilled. We feel very lucky and blessed to be a part of such a unique new development! Looking forward to meeting you all very soon! Guess we better start packing!
