Pearce lunch---THANK YOU!

I can only DITTO what Kim has said. This was a big leap of faith -- a simple plan, a few emails and Mueller community postings, a good cause -- and BOOM -- the Mueller Magic comes through. What a personal treat to show up at Pearce yesterday am to good friends, tons of great food, and grateful teachers. HOPEFULLY I don't forget anyone here -- but special thanks to ALL, including Lesley Keel, Barbara Guest (OK, WHO can make so many salads, cookies, and personalized notes -- only Barbara), Betsy Hilton, Jenny Robson (AH the Cake Masterpiece), Diane Gierisch, Karen Zabreznik, Hilary Herrin, Kim Wine, Ellen Hansen, Sylvia Haley, Darka Darla Holtzclaw, Jenna Martin, Felicia Adams, Bill Fivecoat, Spencer Fivecoat, Dusty Harshman. --- Hope I got everyone here! (My apologies if I left out anyone). And the special topping? Our friends from Catellus -- DEE is just EVERYWHERE, isn't she? -- who had lots of door prizes for smiling teachers. Let this be a lesson to us all -- There is nothing we cannot accomplish together when the Muller Community pulls together. Thanks to all for the gift of giving to teachers who give so much to kids every day.

Hey Erin - do y'all still want the plant out of our front flower bed? So sorry we haven't been able to get it up. We have been busy during the week and gone on the weekends. We are going out of town this next weekend as well, but hopefully we can get it up before then. Let us know. Lesley
Foreign Exchange student needs host family
posted by jueggs on October 3rd, 2009 9:39 AM
Fellow Muellerites, My sister has a 17 year old staying with her that needs a family to stay with for the remainder of the school year. Here's what she sent out about him/the situation. Hello all - I have the privilege of temporarily hosting a great kid from Kosovo, Dite. He is here through a cultural exchange program intended to bring young people from eastern European countries to experience American culture up close and personal. The program is set up for high school students so the kids will stay here through the end of the school year. He arrived in Texas nearly three week ago and is getting used to big, flat Texas and the weird side of Austin. He's already experienced the Alamo Drafthouse, chicken fried steak and even seen Lesley down on 6th Street! He is enrolled at McCallum High School and will need to continue there, but can take a bus if you do not live close. It took a little time, but Dite is adjusting well. He's working hard at learning about the culture and has made friends at school quickly. He is excelling in his classes; overcoming the three week catch-up he had to make. Here is some info on hosting and Dite's profile. He comes from the capital and largest city in Kosovo and lives in an apartment sharing a room two younger brothers, so ideally we'll find a home that has kids and lots of things going on. He's adventurous, conscientious, loves kids and sports, is very smart and likes a lot of activity. If you have any questions at all, you may contact me or Brian Peterson from the placement organization (BPeterson@americancouncils.org) Please forward this e-mail to anyone you can think of who might be interested in hosting or might know others who would be interested. Dite and I both appreciate your support! Thanks, Shana Shana Ellison cell 565.1400
Pit Bull Mix in Pool Area at 9:00pm Tonight

The lifeguards absolutely should not be propping open the gate. The gate is there so we as residents don't have to "regulate access".

hi lesley,The pool hours..5am - noon - resident accessnoon - 1 - lifeguard transition1-7 - resident/non-resident swim7:30 - 10 - resident access..1> The ant problem is being addressed pretty much constantly apparently -- the problem is that the stronger chemicals can't be used because of the proximity to the pool.2> Not that I know of -- you could take stuff to and ask about that at mueller central I suppose.3> Posting the hours is being looked at two problems :a) the hours change regularly and changing the sign would be problematic/pricey/time-consuming etc..b) The designer of the gate has indicated that they would not wish a sign to be posted over it.4> Presumably a resident does this... there is little that can be done by anybody to actually prevent it -- short of a massive spring capable of crushing rocks into powder!jennifer harvey is the point person for stuff like this..hope this helpsEzra.
