Homeowner's insurance recommendations?
posted by joan neuberger on June 8th, 2012 2:24 PM
I'm in the market for a new homeowner's insurance policy. I've had State Farm, since I'd had their car insurance and figured to keep it simple. BUT after paying State Farm boatloads of $$$ over the past 22 years they are canceling my coverage because my son was in a fender bender and an accident that wasn't his fault. Anyone have great experience with home (and/or car) insurance agents in town? Thanks! Joan
Some Things...

Why is the school on the outskirts of the neighborhood? Wouldn't it be smarter to build it in the center? Reasons why:Encourages walking and biking to school by decreasing the average distance traveled to schoolReduces car traffic due to more kids and parents walking and bikingBetter integrates the school into the community by making it a meeting place. We have (had?) a blank slate here. I hope that its not to late to change this plan. There's plenty of info. out there on school siting. I'll find some citings on sitings and post them up. [:cheese:]

they were probably left out to keep it simple. looks like if we ever get a school of any kind, crossing the tracks will be a concern.
Parade of Homes

I hear you. I would love free tickets too. I know that Catellus are having raffles for free tickets (if you sign up at Mueller Central) and that they gave away four at the last MNA meeting. All said and done, I'm with keep_it_simple - it means I get to walk to the Parade.
Book club plans
posted by queeneliz1 on October 29th, 2008 8:38 PM
Thanks to all the neighbors who came to our 1st Mueller book club on Tuesday. We decided to meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at 8:00 PM (except December when we will have a movie night). We set this up so each month we have 3 jobs that will rotate: a Host (provides meeting place & light refreshments), a Leader (leads the book discussion), and a Future Leader (who brings a list of 3 books with synopsis to the meeting, so the group will vote on books to read 2 months in advance. The Future Leader then leads the next meeting discussion). November's meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 25 8:00PM at Megan's house (keep_it_simple), for A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. I'll put future book club updates on the Groups page under Mueller Book Club so feel free to sign up there if you are interested. Thanks! -Melanie
Re: anything planned for the 4th of July?

I don't think there is anything official planned but maybe we could do an impromptu parade and pool party in the neighborhood? Kids on trikes waving american flags ending at Wooten park for some swimming and BYOB (barbeque and beer)? We will be out of town July 1st through July 3rd attending our son's army basic training graduation in Oklahoma so can't sign up to organize but maybe we can keep it simple and informal - pick a time to start and go from there.Just an idea....Karen

let me just clarify that the overly restrictive covenants were not created by the residents.i can't tell what exactly is bothering you, keep it simple. maybe you could be more specific.
