Effects of Electromagnetic Field (EMF)
posted by stephanie tsen on January 26th, 2010 6:19 PM
*Note: Austin Energy has said that the transmission lines passing though the golf course will be 138kV. There are various sites on the internet that discuss the effects of EMF. http://www.cde.ca.gov/LS/fa/sf/schoolsiteguide.asp#highvoltage http://www.ehib.org/emf/longfactsheet.PDF California Department of Education’s guidelines for setbacks from high voltage transmission lines: Proximity to High-Voltage Power Transmission Lines Electric power transmission lines maintained by power companies may or may not be hazardous to human health. Research continues on the affects of electromagnetic fields (EMF) on human beings. However, school districts should be cautious about the health and safety aspects relating to overhead transmission lines. School districts should take a conservative approach when reviewing sites situated near easements for power transmissions lines. In consultation with the State Department of Health Services (DHS) and electric power companies, the Department has established the following limits for locating any part of a school site property line near the edge of easements for high-voltage power transmission lines: * 100 feet from the edge of an easement for a 50-133kV (kilo volts) line * 150 feet from the edge of an easement for a 220-230kV line * 350 feet from the edge of an easement for a 500-550kV line Note; Austin Energy has said that the transmission lines passing though the golf course will be 138kV.
Tour De France Stage 15 Pontarlier to Verbier

DHS, I've been away and not watching for the last 4-5 days, but before that I watched regularly on TW Cable. There are the occasional breakups that last 1-2 seconds, but otherwise it's been fine. Hope this helps.bg
Upgrades from Base Price/home on a Weekley

I agree with dhs on the raised shower head. It makes a big difference. I also agree with those who say $10k is a good ballpark number. The last thing I'll say is that if you plan on doing lots of unique paint or lots of hardwoods, use a third party after closing. Weekley charges too much for both items.
