Cupcake and Water Stand!
posted by Brandon Kraft on April 19th, 2015 11:19 AM
Mattie between Scales and ZC. Now until we run out. Cupcakes and cold water while it lasts. My daughter's school's student fundraiser, the Bobcat Fun Run, is in full swing and asking her how she would like to raise funds, this was her idea. Wanting to encourage our Kindergarten business women, we are outside now. All goods are in exchange for a donation. This year the funds are allocated to replace a long overdue roof replacement. Thanks!
Transportation Committee Meeting notes 25 Feb 2015
posted by Betsy on February 27th, 2015 5:19 PM
-Aldrich roundabout - plans have been completed a long time (by Catellus) and we’re waiting on the City. Apparently the project is on hold while City identifies needed funding (thought it was in bond package???)-First part of the SE Greenway (orchard) will be finished in the next few weeks-Next park/pool (John Gaines park) with late summer opening-Catellus will deliver the next group of lots to builders next week (up to Zach Scott)-Zach Scott will be paved next week-Northbound side of Berkman will be opened up to Zach Scott in early April-Catellus has the permit to extend Berkman to Philomena and they’re working on the permit for next phase of lots (Section 9). Those lots should be delivered to builders late 2015 or early 2016.-Catellus is working on road extensions in Town Center in phases. Philomena and Robert Browning extensions to Mueller Blvd will start in July and complete early next year. Aldrich should be completed up to Robert Browning in July.-Mueller is currently served by routes 37 and 320 (and 20). Old CR shuttle discontinued-Minor mods to 320 to serve market district have been successful. About 50 boarding at this location.-Future changes to routes to utilize Berkman have to wait until Berkman is completed because they can’t traverse the interim changes from one side to the other. Potential changes to route 20 may be proposed for June 2016 changes, but public involvement will be critical as changes would impact 3 stops on Manor, including the stop at Lovell that has good ridership.-June changes - Route 37 will be extended to HEB/Barbara Jordan. Public outreach is underway. Go to capmetro.org in middle of homepage to provide input and get more information. Public open houses are planned on March 9 and 10-Most used stops in Mueller are BJ/Berkman, Lancaster/BJ, Mosaic-CapMetro is conducting random origin/destination surveys on board-Mr. Deeter didn’t have ridership data on the #20 route with him-Catellus appears to be pursuing creation of a working group to discuss Berkman issues in more detail-The City has deployed their dynamic speed sign twice-Catellus has worked with APD community patrol re: directed patrols for enforcement-They’re planning to restripe Berkman from ZS to Robert Browning to visually narrow the roadway-Catellus says that roundabouts could still be added later if determined to be necessary, without major rework of infrastructure. (Traffic control would be an issue) Girard Kinney expressed a desire not to preclude possibility of rail in the future.-PTMD ordinance passed to set up pilot district in Mueller (Feb 2014)-Doesn’t officially include parking lot at Lake Park since our POA controls the parking lot. That will be handled separately, probably through a contract with the city so all meters can be managed by the city. -PTMD yields 51% of revenue to district. In parking lot owned by POA, 100% of proceeds after expenses go to the district-Ordinance 12-7-2(b) - proceeds go to projects that aid in the management of flow of traffic within the district. ROW improvements help with pedestrian flow as well as vehicular or bike traffic (pedestrian wayfinding, etc.) and these types of projects were included in the Mueller application which was approved by Council.-RPP meetings have been held (2 meetings - general and shop house owners). FAQs are being developed.-HDR completed another parking occupation study (Scales to Garcia) on a Thursday and a Saturday in February and turned data over to the City for consideration in setting up the initial RPP area.-Dee gave highlights of changes to improve access to/from Mueller (highlighted at TxDOT’s 2/24 meeting for MNA)-Cherrywood will oppose NB exit to 38th (would take property abutting I-35 from Edgewood to 38 1/2). They might reconsider if they had good modeling to show the impacts to their streets with and without this exit.-Philomena was built as a possible HOV entry/exit and TxDOT and Catellus are evaluating connecting Philomena through to the northbound frontage road
Free Diaper Dekor Plus

On the porch at 4121 Scales St. - Free Diaper Dekor Plus diaper pail (the off white color). In perfect shape except that the lock for the lid has broken off. You'll need to get liners for it (I found them cheapest on Amazon, but Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby carry them), but hoping that someone can still get some good use out of something we no longer need.

SmartPath Realty Recommendation
posted by Greg Bausman on May 1st, 2014 10:05 AM
We recently sold our home on Scales Street and wanted to write a recommendation for David Montalvo. David is a real estate agent who lives in the neighborhood and owns his own realty company. His company, SmartPath Realty, uses a different model for selling homes. He offers two flat fee packages, priced at $500 and $1000, to list your home. We chose the $1000 package which included professional photos, virtual tour, MLS listing, lockbox, comparative market analysis, yard sign, and most importantly, advice from a professional real estate agent whenever needed. Agents traditionally charge 3% of the sales price to list your home. Our savings were over $20,000! David is very passionate about this new model and feels very strongly that in a seller's market the traditional 3% model is outdated. If you are considering selling your home, give David a call or visit his website, smartpathrealty.com, to learn more about the process. If you have any questions about our experience, please feel to send me a private message.

Cell services redux - how is T-Mobile lately?
posted by Jim Barnette on October 31st, 2013 6:43 AM
I live at at Mattie & Scales and found T-Mobile to be even worse than AT&T about 3 months ago. At the time, I was considering moving my Dad from AT&T and so I ported my home phone thru T-Mobile for a week before porting it to Google Voice for home VOIP. During that week I tried 2 different GSM phones with the T-Mobile sim and both performed very poorly in our house. I had previously moved from AT&T to Verizon and have good coverage in my home. I ended up getting Dad a Jitterbug Plus serviced by GreatCall thru Verizon's network. We now have very good cellphone coverage throughout the house.

Tax free weekend has begun! Please grab some extra school supplies and bring them to the plastic tub on my porch (4116 Scales). I will distribute them to Blanton, Pearce, and Reagan. Items needed include: backpacks, boxes of tissues, glue sticks, pencils, rulers, 2 pocket folders with the brads down the spine, wide ruled paper and notebooks, reams of copy paper, colored pencils, markers, crayons, erasers, Elmer's glue. If you would rather just grab a gift card, someone else can do the shopping later. The new HEB has a pretty small school supply section...let's sell it out at least once this weekend. Staples is also in the 'hood, as well as the new store FiveBelow, which is advertising $5 backpacks.

This year we are working together with Windsor Park Neighborhood Association folks to collect school supplies and to do some teacher appreciation events for Blanton, Pearce, and Reagan. I know Mueller kids attend other schools, but this for the sake of working with the people in WP, getting to know them better. So, I will put a plastic tub on my porch at 4116 Scales for any donations. And please contact me if you are interested in the Teacher Appreciation events.
