I35 changes to affect Mueller and East Austin
posted by David Neider on March 26th, 2014 9:49 PM
Some of you may recall that TxDOT came and presented to us about the changes that they are proposing for the I35 corridor. After much review I have come to the conclusion that some of the proposed changes are bad for Mueller and East Austin. There are a number of changes that are of concern, however the two that really stand out are: 1. The closure of the on/off ramps from/to Airport Blvd/I35 upper deck (in combination with closing all on/off ramps on the lower deck). 2. The implementation of super streets concept in combination with the changes to the 45th/Airport blvd intersection which will serve to turn I35 into a bigger barrier to east/west connectivity. (see the video below from Reconnect Austin to get a better understanding about super streets) If you share these concerns and want to get more involved please reach out. If you have questions myself or Mateo Barnstone should able to answer or point you to additional resources. I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize Mateo Barnstone for his leadership in this matter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycA_jlmvHsA
A very big MERCI to Jim Schwobel, Michael Hillis and Christophe Chambers
posted by Mateo Barnstone on November 21st, 2013 12:16 PM
Jim, Michael and Christophe have been kind enough to donate their time and efforts every week at Paggi Square towards teaching Mueller residents the rule, tactics and strategy of the game of petanque for free. Along the way they helped to create a vibrant community that is growing in popularity each week and quickly becoming one of the hottest games in town. All Mueller petanquers, and anyone else interested in the game, is invited to bundle up and join us for hot coffee, pastries and boules this Saturday, November 23rd at 10;00AM. The tentative location is Paggi Square, however, in the event of inclement weather we will move it to Browning Hangar. If you've been curious about this game, Saturday will be a great time to swing by, meet some neighbors, enjoy some coffee and pastry on a crisp fall morning and get introduced to the game of petanque. Please send me PM if you are thinking of coming - that way we can be sure to have plenty of coffee. Signed,The Friends of Paggi Square Susan Beckman Terry Plemons Hasu Patel Mateo Barnstone
