Overhead storage in Mueller garages
posted by langhugh on March 9th, 2010 2:26 PM
Sure, Garreth, We installed a two static, white, powder-coated 4'x4' overhead shelves (Hyloft) that fit nicely over half of the garage door. They were time-consuming to install, and it is a minor pain to retrieve items after pulling out a ladder each time. These are good for camping and rec gear that you'll access once or twice a year. They cost $60-$80 a piece, and took 90 minutes each to install...it cut the time in a third if you had a second helper to hand you pieces from ground to ladder MCCLOSKEY5 has also installed a more durable overhead shelf that may have been sold/installed by professionals. Theirs are static too, but are definitely more durable than the Hyloft. I think I'd like to go with the type of shelf you linked to with a pulley system for the second hald of my over garage door space.. The difference in cost could easily be re-couped by ease of install and ease of access over the years. Maybe having several of each type is the answer to address cost and accessibility needs, but you'll have room for four 4'x4' or two 2'x4' units above your garage door, but it is a huge reclaim of space for stuff.
Easter Egg Hunt

Thanks, McCloskey5. I am sure there was no bad intent here and that the event will be lots of fun. My husband and I both come from interfaith families, and we are happy to share traditions and experiences. We celebrate first communions and confirmations with my sister's Catholic family. We have non-Jewish neighbors over for shabbat every week. If this were just an event organized by neighbors, I would be happy to participate. But through the experience of growing up Jewish in the US, I am sensitive to the appearance of offical sponsorship of religion. I am happy to hear that this was inadvertent. I hope that next year the event either gets a new name or goes on independent of the MNA.

We lived in England for a few years before moving back to Austin, I can totally relate. We are so frustrated at the car-centric nature of Austin. America more generally too, but especially Austin since when we left it was going to have light rail, and Smart Growth, yadda yadda. When we got back, Mueller was the only element of the progressive forward thinking Austin that seemed to have survived...
