Thanks, Lorrie. I'm surprised I can't even delete my account. I understand Kevin is running for office in the Texas State House and am frankly uncomfortable with the use of ads and revenue from a site like this for his own political gain. I note that I would make such a comment no matter who the candidate is, Democrat or Republican. I would think the Mueller community would be better served with a site with better privacy controls and neutrality like Nextdoor.com.

Hi Lorrie, thank you for the advice, and the kind offer. We found him down the manhole across the street yesterday. One bath and bowl of food later, and he's none the worse for wear. He was either exhausted or stressed, because it was the easiest bath I've ever given him.

Hi Kristen,Usually indoor cats don't wander off too far. When my cat slipped out a few years ago, I found her within a day hiding in the bushes in front of the house next door. (I should say my wonderful neighbor Dan and his wonder dog Hank found her. Hank sniffed her out in the bushes and she meowed.) Another neighbor found her cat hiding under the air conditioning unit next door. Let me know if you need help looking. Lorrie

Regardless of which side you think is in the right, this was an unfortunate situation for the parties involved and I think both Lorrie and Joseph handled themselves quite professionally on this forum. It didn't raise my blood pressure to read about it. Thank you for handling this like adults with integrity.

No problem. I did not mean to take a position on this unfortunate saga. I did feel like I owed Joseph a recommendation, which I was too busy to do at the time when he cleaned our windows. And now seemed like a good time. For the record, I have also found Lorrie to be a very nice person, in my dealings with her over the years.

LORRIE: "I did not want this dispute to become public knowledge but unfortunately it looks like Joseph has chosen this path. " I am perplexed by this statement since it was you who back on May 1, 2014 launched the first volley by stating that you had just had your windows washed and they got scratched. Three pages and numerous comments later, you don't want it public.???Joseph did what any prudent business person would do. He mitigated the damage you were causing to his business (livelihood) by offering to settle even though the cause of your damage was inconclusive. Just as you accused him without definitive knowledge that he was responsible, you should have been equally quick to acknowledge (publicly) that he agreed to accept responsibility regardless of who was at fault.Joseph has cleaned our windows on numerous occasions and each time they look great - sparkling clean without any scratches. We are a corner lot with lots of windows facing the east sun in the morning and two street lights at night - no scratches. He is a good, hardworking kid, recent UT graduate, engaged, who is trying to make a living. I will not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone who asks.

Please see the attached pdf for my policy number and if anyone is in doubt still, I would be glad to put you in touch my insurance guy. I would also like to state that for the past several times I have served Lorrie, I have given her 100 dollars off for an exterior and interior clean. That is roughly 600 dollars I have saved her and yet she is persisting to harm me and get as much out of me as she can.I am really.... amazed.

I would like to refute publicly what Lorrie Meyer, a long time customer of mine, is stating publicly. She is stating that I am not insured and that I scratched her windows.Firstly, I did not scratch her windows and I have never admitted to it because I never used any tools that could scratch her windows and of the hundreds of houses where I have cleaned windows, I have never had this issue. The scratches were already there. Often times this is due to builders handling the windows or defects in the installation of the windows. Regardless of my position,Secondly I do have insurance. If Lorrie had asked me, which she did not, I would have given her my policy. I have attached my COI for my liability insurance to this post. I advertise on citicite that I am insured, and it is also on my webpage.I am doing everything in my power to work with Lorrie and have even offered to pay out of pocket to help replace her windows despite the fact that she is out to damage me and my livelihood. Regardless of her assumptions and attempts to cause damage to me, I still stand by my work and can assure anyone who would hire me that I do not scratch glass when cleaning windows.

I have to agree with Lorrie.Given the potential for any kind of accidental damage when a contractor works in your home, it makes sense to ask for proof of insurance (and checking to be sure there's adequate coverage). Prior to cleaning our windows for the first (and probably last) time a couple of months ago, Joseph told me he had insurance. At the time, I didn't ask for proof. Next time I will.Given all the construction, Mueller is so dusty and dirty that damage from scratching is more likely than in more established neighborhoods. Window cleaning contractors should take the extra time and effort to avoid problems...and we as consumers should expect to pay a bit more perhaps.

Hi Lorrie,The rags I use are machine washed and dried before they touch any glass. Thus, there is no dirt on the rags when they are used. Furthermore glass is essentially the same hardness as sand, therefore it would take something harder than sand to scratch glass. Lastly, I raised this issue with another window cleaning company here in Austin which has been in business for 30 years. The owner told me that the stripwasher removes any dirt on the glass, so that when the rag is applied, the dirt has been washed off.I am perplexed about this because this is the first time I have heard of scratches on glass like that and I have personally serviced over 100 homes in Mueller alone. That all being said, I am sorry that you are having to replace your windows and go through all of this.Joseph

Missing Cat: Holly found!
posted by Kathleen Ensey on July 7th, 2013 9:16 AM
You're right Lorrie. Missing Pet Partnership's guidance and tips are the best advice to follow when a pet goes missing, ESP felines because their behaviour is unique. Here are the links re: cats for all of you to keep on hand should your cat or a neighbor's cat go missing. I've been helping people for free to reunite with their pets here in central Austin for 8 years by following MPP philosophy & steps :http://www.missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-lostcat.phphttp://www.missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-probability.phphttp://www.missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-displacedcat.phphttp://www.missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-lostcattips.phpProbably the biggest thing to remember is that cats' instinctive response is to HIDE IN SILENCE because that is their primary protection from predators. How long they remain in that hiding place and what they do from there is dependent upon their temperament. You might be calling out your cat's name and it won't reveal its location or move because your cat's natural instinct has kicked in. It doesn't mean that your cat doesn't love you but that it's innate system has overridden any usual behaviour. Hope this is helpful.

Thank you Lorrie. I am looking forward to many fun years with Choco! I am very blessed that it ended the way it did and in such a short time. Most people that I spoke to talked to me about not recovering their pets for weeks or months. I realize we got very lucky to recover Choco so fast, especially since he got out without his collar on. The two days he was missing felt more like two years. It was the craziest thing...it felt like my own child was missing. So far the FB page seems to be growing by at least a few people a day. It is my hope that it can be another useful tool for people to utilize in locating their lost pets or posting pets that they find to try and locate the owner(s)...epsecially since most people use FB these days.

Lorrie,I replied because I felt your original post was a call by you to not utilize Texas Solar because of an honest mistake. You have every right to be bothered by what happened and you could have called Mark and spoken with him about the issue and been done with it. Instead, you came to the forum to relate your experience and try to influence the opinion of others about this business. I wanted to offer an alternative perspective.Last year after the bad hail storms, we had a new roof installed. Two weeks later, I came home to loads of shingles sitting on the new roof with no idea where they came from. We found out who delivered them and called the owner who admitted that they had delivered them to the wrong “Schroeder.” He apologized profusely and the shingles were picked up the next day. Now, talk about potential for roof damage?! However, I did not come to the forum and talk badly about the company – we did post to find out what legal grounds we had if it turned out there was roof damage but we never mentioned the company’s name. Honest mistakes happen and based on Mark’s reply, it appears to not have been Texas Solar’s error after all. Too often I read people writing scathing posts on this forum and sometimes I wish everyone would just take a deep breath and wait to post.Again, sorry you had a bad experience.Alicia

Since Apex Window Cleaning did a neighbor's house, I figured they must be good so I gave them a call. Turns out the company is owned by Joseph Newman - and he is willing to give Mueller residents a deal! [you know how I love discounts] :-) The prices will vary depending on how many windows you have but he's willing to give us all a 20% discount if you schedule your service by January 1, 2011. Just in case you're curious, he's charging me $200 for both inside/out + screens. I think that's a great deal since I have a 2-story house with a lot of windows! Will be wonderful to have clean windows in time for the family visit during the holidays. If you're interested, give Joseph a call directly at 512-944-3700 or email him at apexisthebest@gmail. I took Lorrie's recommendation of Dr. Palvino at the Austin Vet Hospital, and I'm glad I did. I originally just took one of my dogs to him, and I was very impressed. I had taken my other dog to Banfield after first moving here, and I was not at all satisfied with the quality of care, so I took her to Dr. Palvino as well. I've had her for about 3 years and she's had a limp off and on that was first noted when she was at the shelter. And now I finally know what's causing it. So I definitely second her recommendation (or third or fourth...something like that).

At one of the recent meeting Catellus held I asked the question on when we would reach the 25% mark and how the denominator in the equation was determined. With the changing neighborhood plans, it did not appear to me that there was a clear "total" for planned resident houses. The response was basically that while the total planned number of houses is a moving target the Mixed Use Community Covenant has language to deal with that scenario. Apparently there is a methodology to estimate the planned total housing units.I don't remember anyone stating what percent we are currently at, but we had not reached 25% yet.Mike
