posted by Monali Swain on June 16th, 2018 12:54 AM
Relocation or home shifting is daunting task. But, its not only about packing and moving goods. Relocation is a life changing process. A complete new life awaits for you in the new city and you would not want to go wrong while initiating this task. Relocation is a series of tasks like packing goods, transportation of goods, hiring professional packers and movers Pune, unpacking and rearranging goods, etc. and making mistake during this process due to the stress, tensions and worries is very normal. But this mistakes can make your move more complicated and expensive for you especially while hiring packers and movers. Here are the list of the common mistakes people tend to make while hiring local packers and movers in Pune. You should keep these mistakes in mind so that you will not make the same mistakes as people have done during their move. Getting Quotes on Phone People always look for their comforts and this what the online portals also offer them. They contact the removal company and get moving quotes on phone which is not actually a good thing to do. Of course for getting an idea of the charges of your move you can ask the movers about their rates and charges as per the volume of your goods and distance between destinations. But the movers and packers will not know about the size and weight of the goods so the final charges will change after the movers will pack or load them into the truck. This is why it is advised you to call the movers to come to your home for assessing the goods and provide you the moving quote. Hiring the First Company Another big mistake that people do is hiring the first company that come first into their way. You should not do this in fact, you must interview several moving companies in Pune to choose the right one that fits your requirements. Not Getting Quotes from Multiple Company You should get quotes from at least three or more companies. By comparing the quotes of multiple packers and mover you can compare the rates and charges of movers and packers. Not Asking the Right Questions If you will not ask they will never tell you. People tend to make this mistake the most. They don't ask the right questions to their movers what they must ask like the charges, taxes that can be apply to your move when and why. So, you should not do this mistake and ask the right questions to your mover to move flawlessly with  them. You must read carefully the terms and conditions mentioned in the moving contract. And ask the things that you don't understand. Ask the movers what does it means and how they apply to your move. Not Checking their License and Credentials The company must be licensed and certified. You can move hassle-freely with an authorized removal company. Hence, you should never miss or forget to check their license. These are the common mistakes that people tend to make which should not be happen at any cost. If you will fail to hire the right and reliable packers and movers Pune for your move then you will have to suffer a lot. So, it is important to hire the right relocation company for your move that are professional, skilled, trained, insured and experienced, who can provide you safe and hassle-free shifting experience within your budget. I would like to add Martin Castillo; #512-497-1566 to this list. He was recommended to me by a Mueller neighbor who had work done and was pleased. In January, Martin painted three rooms and all my ceilings for me. Martin's work is very neat and clean. His lines are tight and flawless. He helped me take down large art work and the TV's and then re hung them for me. Martin is pleasant and trust worthy and reasonably priced.

Mueller Needs YOU to Speak Up (or Show Up) - 10-1 Redistricting Public Hearing
posted by ping2guo3 on August 14th, 2013 3:59 PM
Um. . . Mueller is not the east Austin you knew? Well, it can’t be geography, so it must be something else. Maybe the availability of new houses on an otherwise barren, noisy airfield? Or, the 1 out of 4 units that house people at 80 percent or less of MFI without looking like subsidized housing? Or, providing nice rental units for those above 55 at affordable rates? Or the increased shopping and employment opportunities, including an HEB, in a previously identified food desert? If not any of these things, then maybe does it have something to do with the types of people who live at Mueller? Perhaps it is people like Dennis MIck who one-handedly fixed handicapped accessibility to the voting precinct in Windsor Park or the dozens of other like him who assist their east side neighbors on a routine basis? Or, maybe it is the emergent leadership of young women like Kathy Sokolic or young Africa Americans like James Nortey and Kevin Foster? This old airport patch of land is probably not the east side you knew. There are a lot of new streets and buildings and many new people. Some old timers may not like the change and or perhaps think of it as too "different" to be considered as a part of east Austin. They may well be correct. I will leave that for others to decide. As for the gerrymandering part, everyone needs to examine the committee charge and come to understand what that term is and what it is not. Winner of the 2012 Mueller Holiday Block Contest
posted by Drew on January 11th, 2013 11:22 PM
Each year, the Front Porch Flyer newsletter recognizes the Mueller neighborhood block with the most holiday spirit. This is a block competition, not an individual competition, so you need to get with your neighbors to show the rest of Mueller why your block has the most holiday cheer. The winning block has a photo published in the Front Porch Flyer. Prior winning blocks include Lawless, the southern end of Berkman, and Cal Rodgers. For 2012, the winner is Gochman Street! Strong participation from several neighbors, along with whimsical decorations like the Christmas pigs and geese, helped make Gochman a place of grand holiday cheer. Other notably decorated streets include the western end of Antone and "upper Camacho," as well as Garden Court 2. Congrats to the winner, and we look forward to your holiday cheer next year! -The Front Porch Flyer team
Traffic operations: signage and alley traffic flow

Curtis -- I agree!Betsy -- Thank you, too, for including this on the transportation notes thread. I'm not sure I would have picked it up until after a week or so had passed. For the record, 30 MPH is the maximum legal speed, not the prescribed speed. The TTC itself says you should drive a reduced speed on a narrow roadway or one with "special hazards". Just as you aren't required to drive 15 MPH in the alley, you aren't required to drive 30 MPH, and you may technically be unlawful even though it is the posted or prima facie speed. This is for a different day, but I note different neighborhoods have 25 MPH speed limits. That ain't a bad idea. Zach Scott at 30 MPH makes sense, but as Sean pointed out, 30 MPH on Lawless typically doesn't.
Traffic operations: signage and alley traffic flow
posted by Sean M. on December 10th, 2012 9:47 AM
First I'll start by saying I enter the driveway in the wrong direction and will continue too no matter what is "officially" decided. When people say they do not understand why this would be a good idea I'll mention a couple points. To enter the driveway at the proper end I must drive down lawless st, when cars are parked on both sides there isn't much room to see/react to anyone coming out from behind the cars and since I should be doing this daily I do not see why I should drive less than 30 mph as that is legal (which when cars are parked seems like I'm barreling down the street hoping a kid doesn't shoot out from behind a car). Also I know which houses have kids that play in the back so now I have to pass them in the driveway when I wouldn't if entered the wrong way. So there are definitely some reasons and I normally drive cautiously in the driveways anyways. Basically I have to pass houses with kids twice rather than enter cautiously and watch out at the T. PS. Stop posting that you got into an accident with 3yr old and 7mo old, that is irrelevant, If I get in an accident without kids is it not the same - stop with the over sensationalizing, no one wants to be in an accident.

I like how Mateo put it and agree with his sentiments.I've found that people drive both ways in our T-shaped alley, and only about once a month do I come into contact with someone driving the opposite direction to me. Everyone drives slow enough that it's not a big deal, especially around the blind corner we have and when there are kids playing in the alley. When I encounter people going the opposite direction it seems to work itself out within 10-15 seconds ... one person simply pulls forward or back and out of the blind corner and allows the other to pass. It's really no big deal, and everyone who uses the Mattie/Lawless/Zach Scott alley appears to be okay with letting each other do what's convenient. I love my neighbors!

Neighbors - A coworker of mine in San Antonio was in Ohio caring for her ailing parents when her house was destroyed by a fire. Her family is safe, but they have lost everything. In our Austin office, we are taking up a collection for the family, and I thought I'd see if anyone had some items to donate. For clothes, my co-worker, Julie, is about my size, so, women's clothes size 2-4. Not sure how old the kids are, but Bella is a size 10-12 girls, and Max is size 8-10 boys. They can use anything you were thinking of getting rid of... Also, if you were thinking about getting rid of some furniture or appliances (or anything) in the near future, especially staples like beds, please let me know. We can provide transportation and logistics. If you are feeling generous, gift cards and monetary donations will also be welcome. I can come pick up anything you have to donate, or you can leave donations on our porch - 4104 Lawless. Contact me for pick up - or 512-809-3497 Thank you! Kathy

I still don't understand why they are driving that...but I do find it interesting that no one called on my last contractor, who just happened to be in a nicer pickup (also unmarked)... [:hmm:]Anyway, it might be a good idea that if a bigger company is sending out folks to do work that the homeowner makes sure they have marked vehicles. I didn't even think to ask (I'm using a giant firm, and just assumed all vehicles would be marked), but I will in the future!! I'm also going to make a comment to the firm, as they really should have marked vehicles. Car magnets don't cost that much! These guys will be here at least through tomorrow (maybe Wednesday), and they are with Empire. They did happen to stick a sign in the yard, so at least they had some branding with them. They should remember where I live (I'm on Lawless, and they'll also be in the alley between Lawless and Scales), so hopefully they won't look too suspicious driving around tomorrow or Wednesday! If anyone has any trouble with these fellows, please do not hesitate to contact me. They have been very professional, polite, and are doing a good job, so far...As always, thanks to everyone for making our neighborhood what it is, and for keeping an eye on our friends and our homes. I love, love my neighbors and cannot say it enough!!Kathy

I'm just changing the title of this thread. No need to drag the good name of Col P.J. Lawless into this fracas.

Maybe as a community we should walk around knocking on doors and introducing ourselves?

Me, too. This is a serious issue and does need to be addressed. It would be ideal if people left a note, and I know people do. However, in any other neighborhood, you'd probably only get a note from the city due to lack of community. So, we are trying, but not perfect. It's frustrating, but not everyone will leave a note, and remember, a lot of people aren't on this forum and do live their lives not as a community-type. See them all the time, After 3 years some people still refuse to say hello to anyone when they are out on a walk.

When I read this post yesterday, I was interested, because we also received a notice from the city that a neighbor had filed a complaint about our sprinkler causing run-off. I'm sorry to see the discussion has degenerated already. We are new to the area and would have been very receptive if the neighbor would have just knocked or left a note or contacted us instead of the city (we are up at 7am too). We now feel unjustly accused of something, and we aren't even certain what the complaint was about. We went outside at the same time of day as the complaint was made (Saturday, 7am) exactly a week later, and saw no large amount of run-off or any other concern. We will check our sprinkler heads again this weekend. To have the city contact us as the first approach seems overly aggressive and unnecessary. We are trying our best to abide by all of the rules and laws that we are aware of in our new town, so please, if you are our neighbor and have a concern, feel free to talk to us directly about it. Thanks.

Wow, crls, aren't you charming? Sorry you were mistankenly called out, crls, but I think we got it and you can stop thinking everything is about you from now on.Thank you, lasp4448 . I cry seeing all the water running down the alleys in the morning, straight into the drain. I try to always tell people that they have run off, not because of the fine, but because of the SEVERE water shortage we are suffering. I have hear that 80% of our water goes to landscaping, that seems unacceptable. So, yes, tell you neighbors if you see this! Even if they don't like it. I asked one of my neighbors to pass on the message to another neighbor that they had severe run-off since she sees them more often. She basically told me that it was none of my business and who cares, they can afford it! What??? Hell no! We all have to work together to conserve and not turn a blind eye.

What part of my posting did you not understand? My sprinklers are running correctly. I have had them checked and adjusted every summer since I live here (this is the 5th) by a sprinkler repair company while actually observe them work and their results. I have checked the timer after I received notice of the accusation and the only problem I found was that the clock was 3 minutes ahead. I know that the sprinklers are not running outside my hours and days. If, for any weird reason, they did run outside the allowed time on that particular day, which is highly unlikely, it was not because of a decision or neglect. I would have certainly run to verify the problem and make adjustments if someone had told me or at least left me a note. What advantage would I get from running the sprinklers at 7:30am? Or, why would I pay someone every year to check them if I didn’t care? Spare me of your lecture. Whether it was a one time problem or they reported the wrong house number or they had a malicious intent, I was falsely accused. I’d like to see how you would react and what words would you use if you were accused of something of which you are innocent and which you can’t prove in a court known for applying “guilty until proven innocent”. Speaking of responsibilities, it is not your responsibility to decide which words are and which are not worthy of a Mullerite (and I couldn't care less what you consider any word to be). I’ll tell you what is unworthy of a Mullerite: not informing their neighbors of a malfunction before reporting them. Mueller has become a neighborhood of vigilantes (ask my neighbors who were reported for barking dogs, parking too close to a hydrant, weeds in their lawn, music at 9pm on a Saturday, etc. without prior notice). If any “worthy Mullerite” has a problem with a neighbor, the decent, civilized, good-neighborly and graceful thing to do -although not anyone’s “responsibility”- is talking to them about it (or leaving a note, or posting a comment here) first and reporting them only if they refuse to do anything about it. Someone who has vested themselves with the authority to point out non-responsibilities, report their neighbors, decide what words are not worthy of a Mullerite and enlighten the rest us as what the community was made to be, should know how a good neighbor –Mullerite or not- should act.I will not read any future comments you might post about this as I consider them unworthy of my time.

As an early morning walker (trying to beat the heat), I have seen MANY sprinklers running at the wrong time, the wrong day, etc. I have not reported anyone (yet!), but the worst of all are the sprinklers that are pouring into the street and into the sewer system - a complete waste of water. It appears that some residents set their sprinkler system once and then presume that it runs correctly. An electric surge (or something) could mess up the system, but even more likely - the sprinkler heads turn, or are kicked, or just go bad - with the result that the street gets watered instead of the plants. Have you checked your sprinklers to make sure that they're watering when the supposed to - and not anytime else? Have you watched them to make sure they're going where they're supposed to? We are a community made to be ecological in practice - electricity, water, etc. As our climate warms, water will become more and more important - all of us need to do everything possible to conserve it - even if it means calling the city. It is your responsibility to insure that you're not wasting water, not your neighbor's responsibility to warn you. (As an aside, I consider the "b" word to be ugly, anachronistic, and not worthy of a Muellerite.)

Resurrecting an old thread... because of some bastard falsely accusing me of running my sprinklers outside my times. I got a nice card from the city saying that someone reported my sprinklers running at 7:30am. Thanks! Dear bastard: You should leave a note on someone's door before you think they should get fined. Chances are that the person that you so kindly send to the front is not aware of the problem. After that, either get the correct address before running to the city with an accusation or, better yet, get a life. I didn't get any notes and my sprinklers run at 4:00am for 10 minutes. They have been doing so for 4 years. I have checked again and they are still working well. You either reported the wrong address or, I can't help thinking that, you have something personal against me since, I repeat, my sprinklers run on time as far as I know.I am thinking not very nicely of you and wishing you not very nice things.
