Garden Home Nomenclature opinion: GC3 , GC4 or GH1 or something else?
posted by GarrethWilcock on June 16th, 2011 12:33 PM
So if the first garden court is GC1 and the second GC2, what are the two green spaces between the new David Weekley Garden Homes going to be called? GC3 and GC4? And how does this make the folks in the new Garden Homes facing Antone and Tom Miller feel? Disenfranchised? Un courted? Should all 6 rows of homes be GH1? The only reason this sprang to mind was that I did a little lemonade stand thing and ended up calling the location GC3, and didn't know how anyone else felt. cheers Garreth

This Tuesday, during our National Night Out, we will have the collection box near the desserts (clever, eh?), so if you are coming by GC2, feel free to bring some old cast-offs - just t-shirts! If you don't have any, no worries, you are still welcome to the delicious desserts ;-)Hope to see you there! Thanks!Katherine

Hi Neighbors, This is the week for recycling all your old t-shirts, if you'd like them to be re-purposed into fun, new products! Open Arms (www.openarmsshop.com), a new company here in Austin, is employing refugees at a living wage, providing English lessons and other enrichment programs, and giving an opportunity to women needed a safe community in which to work. So we need your t-shirts, any size, shape, torn, stained, faded, - and if we for some reason, you think we can't use them - don't worry, we'll find a way! Please bring them to a box on my porch - 4212 Threadgill in GC2 or feel free to PM me and I'll come pick them up for you. Thanks!! Katherine

Hey Everyone,We apologize for not hosting Splash Night in GC2 past couple of weeks due to Summer vacation. We are back and would love to host a Splash Night. Unfortunately, the city is under strict water restrictions, therefore, we will have to postpone Splash Night for a later date or try again next Summer. We'll keep you posted.Jeff, Marissa and Drake
Roommate needed!
posted by UncleMike on August 7th, 2009 11:05 AM
Hey All, I was trying to avoid doing this here, but desperate times call for desperate measures: I have a room I REALLY need to rent in my house in the 2nd Garden Court. If you know anyone looking for a place, that would also be a great fit for Mueller, please let me know. Seeing as there are two 26 year-old males in the house now, I think my one roommate and I would prefer a younger guy, but we're certainly not picky. Fitting in with the GC2 folk is probably the most important criterion. I'm also getting to the point of being flexible with how much I'm looking to charge, but I can discuss that with interested parties via PM. Thanks for your help! - Mike Sears

Modifications Committee / Solar panels
posted by wharhorn on July 19th, 2009 11:47 PM
I have one of the Saldana homes ig GC2, and also have a rebate approval and bid for a 4.5kw system. I tried to have it done by the builder so it would fall into the mortgage but found that because of all the Mueller restrictions by Catellus(sp?) and the HOA that it would cost me more and be very difficult to do that way. My application thru the HOA is "being decided by the comittee". Schroed there is a request form you can download to fill out and send in with a small fee and a deposit. Along with a copy of your bid from one of the city approved installers and a plot map showing where the installations will be on the house. They are supposed to give you an answer in 15-30 days. I sent mine in in April while the house was under construction, not realizing they would not even look at it until the house was out of the builders name. Since closing in early June I have called 4 or 5 times and they have always needed some other piece of information all of which I had sent in with the application. I tell them they have it already but that I will gladly send it if they cannot find it. They are going to look and call me back, (never have). I call again in 2-3 days and they have indeed found the missing info. They have been very nice about it each time, but have never notified me they need anything else except when I call them. I have been patient as I figure if I got mad they could make this take forever and my rebate at the old higher rate will expire. The whole point being that you need to send in the application and then follow up. Thursday they told be everything was in order and I would have a decision in the mandated 51-30 days I admit to being a little worried as my house is on the end of the GC and the panels will have to be on the street side to be effective. Most peoples are not easily visible from the street. Good luck

Commuter bike?

Hey all, Does anyone have a commuter, simple road-, or single speed bike they don't use anymore and might want to sell? I'm looking for something to commute on that's lighter than my full suspension MTB and that doesn't cost so much to maintain. Thanks, Ben (GC2)
