posted by Dana Williams on October 19th, 2014 8:52 AM
Does anyone have the book Instant Word Power we can borrow for a short time? My daughter needs it for school on Tuesday. We ordered one from Amazon marketplace two weeks ago but the shipping has been delayed. Already checked the library and Half-Price books several times. Instant Word Power is by Norman Lewis. Please PM if you can assist, thank you. Thanks, Dana Williams
Wanted - wire or other music stand for cello
posted by Dana Williams on September 22nd, 2013 11:53 AM
Neighbors, in the spirit of reduce-reuse-recycle, I am looking to see if anyone has an unwanted music stand, either wire or otherwise, suitable for a child learning to play cello. I figure there is a family out there with a child who is no longer in band/orchestra rather than me buying a brand new one. I do not need one that is portable necessarily - any kind ok. Please PM with info, thank you! Dana Williams
Fulmore bus stop discussion - looking for new Fulmore parents
posted by Dana Williams on August 18th, 2013 5:26 PM
I am trying to round up all the Mueller parents of Fulmore Middle School kids to discuss bus stop location and also just to get in touch as it is helpful with carpooling for after school activities for band, choir, sports, etc. I believe I am aware of all the folks who have continuing students from last year but if you have a new Fulmore Falcon this year and wish to get in touch with the rest of us to discuss, please contact me at Thanks! Lego Fest Tickets Swap or Possible Sale
posted by Dana Williams on August 31st, 2012 10:01 PM
I have four tickets (3 kids, 1 adult) for the Lego Fest this weekend for the Sunday afternoon session at the Convention Center. I would like to swap if by chance there is anyone who wants to the Sunday afternoon session (think it runs approx 3-7ish) in favor of the Sunday morning session which I would prefer. Alternatively, if you know my family and would be willing to drop off and escort until inside my almost 16 yr old and his responsible 10 year old brother, I would be willing to sell at face value one adult and one kid ticket for the Sunday afternoon session. They are perfectly capable of attending such an event on their own. My other child and I would prefer not to go but no under-18 year olds are admitted without an adult for some reason. I had originally planned to drop off the two boys with my teen in charge since they are the most interested in our family but had to buy four tickets for everyone instead of the two due to this rule. FYI that all tickets are now sold out for the entire weekend according to the event website. Please email at"> Thanks, Dana and Greg

Wanted to borrow or buy very cheap: Brown, leather, or leather-like sandals for a part in Aladdin musical for my daughter Ninar. Can we borrow for one week or buy if they are just old ones cluttering up your closet? They must be brown. Her current non-brown summer sandals have been deemed unacceptable by the play director. Size 5.5 to 7 should work. Need by Wednesday at the latest. Thanks for any help. Please PM. Dana Williams

Borrow a Kindle?
posted by Dana Williams on May 30th, 2011 5:35 PM
I am thinking about buying a Kindle for my husband for Father's Day as he is an avid reader but not sure if he will like it or not - it would be such a big change. Could we borrow someone's Kindle for an evening to give it a try to see if he likes it before he invests? Please don't mention to him it may be his Father's Day present though he will probably guess. We are trying to keep it kind of a surprise. Thanks, Dana Williams 740-0136
Fulmore MS bus location?
posted by Dana Williams on May 26th, 2011 5:45 PM
Are there any current or future Fulmore MS magnet students in Mueller? My daughter Nina is headed to 6th grade there in the Fall. Just received the AISD message that magnet bussing has been saved from the budget cuts. However, I am not aware of where this year the Fulmore pickup is. I imagine it will be the same or similar next year. Thanks for any info, Dana Williams

Aggie events this week in Austin

Greg and I are hosting an A&M vs. Nebraska viewing party tonight Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at 2136 McCloskey. Aggies, Aggie fans and prospective Aggies may wish to check out two interesting events associated with the big game versus t.u. (texas university) Thanksgiving Day in Austin. Midnight Yell Practice Wednesday night on the south steps of the Capitol. Corps of Cadets (including the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band) march-in - military parade - at 1:00 from East Riverside up Congress to 11th street on the south side of the Capitol - on Thanksgiving Day. Great event for kids if you can schedule around the turkey. More info below on the Capital City A&M Club website. Gig' Em! Dana Williams '92 and Greg Buford '90
Youth baseball/softball league North Austin Optimist
posted by Dana Williams on February 18th, 2010 8:30 PM
Team Mueller, Perhaps the best option for youth baseball/softball near Mueller is the North Austin Optimist league. I did a lot of research to come to this conclusion and though I cannot say it is the most organized league around, it seems a bit more organized than some others that are also convenient to us. Registration for Spring baseball/softball is wrapping up soon, with tryouts for baseball this Saturday (softball no tryouts as there may only be one to two teams per age group) though late registration is permitted after tryouts. All the details are on the website - I coached in the Fall and will do so again in the Spring if you have any other questions perhaps I can assist. Season is March-May and the Spring league is the main season and more competitive - those looking for a very recreational flavor should consider Fall baseball or of course you can play both seasons. NAO fields for games and practices are just up behind Hobby Lobby near 183/Anderson, first exit off of 183 coming from Mueller. Traffic has not been a problem even for 6:00 practices. Ten minute trip. Fees are the lowest around - extremely reasonable. I will have a son in the Pinto league (7-8) and daughter in Mustang softball (9-10). If you are going to sign your child up in one of these age groups, we can probably get your child on the same team as my kids to help with carpooling from the 'hood. Finally, if you are looking for a top-notch, super-organized and competitive league, the best in town is probably Town and Country Optimist (great website) which offers a wide variety of sports in addition to baseball/softball but getting there during the week is a real drag as it is near 183/Anderson Mill. Lost dark gray hoodie sweatshirt by OshKosh in Wooten Park
posted by Greg Buford on February 6th, 2010 9:26 AM
Sam lost his dark heather gray Osh Kosh hoodie at Ella Wooten Park Friday night around 6:15. He came home without it and when he remembered it 20 minutes later, he went back to the park, but it was gone. It was near another child's hoodie so he thought it might have been picked up by someone else by mistake. OshKosh in large letters on the front, sized for a 7 year old. We would be happy to pick it up at your house if you have it. Thanks, Dana Williams and Greg Buford
New to Mueller Just in Time for Christmas
posted by Dana Williams on December 19th, 2009 1:43 PM
We just spent our first night at the baby poop brown Antone at 2136 McCloskey - note that we did not get to pick the color. We are thrilled to be in the new house after renting since we moved (back) to Austin in August. We are: Greg Buford, Dana Williams, and 13 year old Cole, 9 year old Nina, and 7 year old Sam. The children are especially eager to make friends in the area. Looking forward to meeting lots of interesting folks in Mueller, Dana and Greg
youth sports league near Mueller
posted by Dana Williams on July 14th, 2009 1:15 PM
What is the closest youth sports league to the Mueller area? We are moving to Mueller soon from overseas, building a house to be ready around the end of the year. In the meantime, we will be renting in the area in the meantime so kids can get to Maplewood and Kealing in time for school end of August. Thanks for any ideas. Mom lives in far NW Austin and tells me our old league has registration for Fall in July, so it may be time to sign up for soccer or whatever is played in the Fall here. We are interested in soccer, softball/baseball, basketball, etc. If anyone has ideas on junior golf as well, that would be helpful - First Tee seems a good choice but I don't know anything about programs at Morris Williams. Thanks, Dana
