Lane closures on Cameron Road Improvements Project to start Monday
posted by danx11 on August 24th, 2011 2:43 PM
Temporary intermittent lane closures will begin on Cameron Road between US 290 and 51st Street, Monday August 22 to September 8, 2011. Lane closures will begin at 9:00a.m.and extend overnight for each location where bus pads and bus pull-outs for Capital Metro are being constructed. There are eight bus pads in total to be constructed over the two-week period. The Cameron Road mobility improvement project will provide a more efficient multimodal corridor between 51st Street and US 290. This portion of Cameron Road has historically high left turn collisions and is also on the city of Austin Bicycle Plan for recommended bicycle lanes. This construction is a precursor to a project between the Public Works Department and Transportation Department to improve vehicle left turn safety and to implement the City of Austin Bicycle Plan. The project will re-stripe and reconfigure Cameron Road from four vehicle lanes (two in each direction) to three vehicle lanes (one each direction with a center turn-lane) and bicycle lanes. The bus pads and bus pull-outs that are being constructed will also improve transit conditions. Pedestrian improvements include new sidewalks and ADA accessible curb ramps at pedestrian crossing locations. This project is funded through the 2010 Mobility Bond Program. The City urges motorists to drive cautiously ad courteously in the area while the work takes place. Signs routing traffic will be present to assist motorists. Can anyone recommend a good electrician, who's price is fair?

I haven't used him but the electrician who came to my house for the Pecan Street Project gave me his card in case I needed electrical work done. His name is Chadwick Ottnat and his number is 512-461-2077. He was very nice and I can only imagine he must be good if they hired him.
Small gas grill for sale - perfect for Mueller!
posted by gford on April 19th, 2010 6:01 PM
A friend of mine is selling their gas grill. It is small (it's nicknamed "The R2D2 Grill"!) and it seems perfect for Mueller - it will not take up too much to be room outside and it's much more convenient that charcoal. The brand is BBQ Grillware grill, model SSp 2010. If you are interested, I attached a few pics. They're asking $70 (I think retail is a couple hundred?). It uses a small propane canister, and they were saying the grill grate simply needed cleaned. Other than that, it's ready for use! Contact Lisa at"> if you're interested.

12/2/09 - my formal TCAD protest hearing is over and I was successful
posted by Mark Holzbach on December 2nd, 2009 2:13 PM
I attended my formal TCAD protest hearing this afternoon. I was unable to attend the informal TCAD protest, so it seemed this formal meeting would be my only opportunity. In the room with me was one TCAD employee, and three appointed members on the appraisal review board (ARB). One member of the ARB read through the formal scripts, and swore me in. Then they asked me to make my case. I told them that I had requested and received the list of TCAD's comparables and that I thought the only really relevant ones were the other units in my condo complex. I then said that my neighbor had told me his informal review on August 5th resulted in no increase over this 2008 assessment, and that I would like to have the same reasoning applied to my property. After I signaled I had nothing else to say, the ARB turned to the TCAD employee who said that since there were no recent sales in my neighborhood she would recommend keeping my 2009 tax assessment the same as 2008. I was very happy. For further information on preparing for your property tax protest hearing, please refer to the attached 6/6/09 article that appeared in the Austin American Statesman, and the informative blog URL link below. If you have information or experiences to share with your neighbors, please reply to this topic and share it! Thanks!" rel="nofollow">
