About Me: |
My wife and I have been married for 28 years and are quasi empyty-nesters. Our youngest spent her freshmen year of college in Stephenville kind of spinning her wheels while she figured out she didn't want to persue her original degree. She decided she wants to be a Vet Tech. This is a perfect fit for her (or so we think). She'll attend Midland College for a 2-year program which starts this fall (2008) so we'll be back to empty nesting it until she comes home for the holidays. Our oldest daughter graduated from UT in 2007 with a degree in Radio, Television, and Film. She is persuing a career out at Disney World in Orlando but has not quite landed the job of her dreams. She is employed, so we're happy from that aspect but do hope she gets something in her chosen field soon.
I work for a Japanese company whose US operations are headquartered in Austin. I'm in charge of all things related to legal compliance with international trade laws and manage our operations groups to make sure we stay out of the headlines! I travel to Japan a couple of times each year and have also been to China a couple of times. I hope someday to go Europe.
We moved into our new Mueller home at the end of June 2008. We previously lived in Round Rock and commuted for 12 years. We had moved to Round Rock from the Dallas area so for the first few years, the traffic was not bad as compared to the crazy Metroplex. However, as the years went by, traffic was really getting to me. Even the toll roads didn't help my frustration with the commute. My wife, who works in Round Rock, and I had an agreement that as soon as our youngest graduated high school, we could move closer to my job.
I'd followed the progress of the Mueller development over the years and was very intrigued but was put off by the pioneer lottery process so never really persued. We put our home in Round Rock on the market in late April and got a contract right before the Memorial day holiday. We spent the following Saturday morning looking at homes all around the central and southwest part of Austin and were on our way for a second look at home we really liked down in Circle C. Before we drove down there, our realtor called to confirm the appointment and was told the home had a contract on it.
We figured that was fate or God looking out for us because later that day we drove through Mueller just for grins and came upon our home. The original owner got a job transfer out of the country so the house went back to the builder. Next day we put a contract on it and moved into it at the end of June.
So far we're really loving it. We had a nice backyard with a great swimming pool and spa but so far we're not really missing it.
