Mueller Houses Finally Revealed?
It seems like later phases of Mueller are moving toward a more sharply modern design. Look at Streetman's planned row homes or the 'tuck under' houses that have been proposed near the hospital district. I hope this stylistic move comes to...

Renderings of Mueller Houses
Good find! Those look fantastic. They don't, however, look particularly inexpensive.I love the fresh thinking that goes on at Mueller. Please, Catellus, keep it up!

Increasing Lot Prices?
I agree 100%. The way to address the gap is through a diversification of housing types in subsequent phases, and not though price stagnation of existing housing types. The only way to truly address the gap is with smaller houses. It's goin...

pleated media filter in atttic a/c
Just to be clear: the size of the house isn't the issue. The larger media filters work better because the quality is higher and there is more (a lot more) filtration surface for the air to pass through. We previously had one in a 1,400/sf...

You're talking about an April Aire filter. They're wonderful. We paid $35 per filter mail order, but that was a few years ago. Here's more info: posted on November 24th, 2008

Bookstop Closing--Opportunity for Mueller?
This makes me sad.Bookstop, a one-time hotbed of local literary activity and an occupant of the Central Park shopping center since the center opened 15 years ago, will close at the end of the year."The lease has come to the end of its term,...

Re: Time Warner or AT&T U-verse for new residents?
They had no problem recognizing our address as Uverse capable. It sounds like their locating software may be more up to date than it was a few months ago.I agree with Aaron: I hate hate hate Time Warner. Their incompetence knows no bounds...

Tiny Texas Houses
I'd be all for a micro-village of these at Mueller. Cluster them around a park and plant lots of trees in between. I bet they'd be a hit.

We had one in our old house and loved it. Replacement is a snap -- pull it out, remove, replace, push the new one back in -- and they work quite well.Weekley installs them standard. I would recommend that everyone replace them pretty soon...

You might try Family Connections, which is just down Airport Blvd from Mueller. They rent toys and learning materials for free, like a library. My family absolutely loves them.Family Connections Website

Street lights out on Cal Rodgers & Tom Miller
AMEN to that! Could we at least get lower-wattage bulbs? Could half the lights be turned off after midnight? Is there a productive way to lobby for such changes?

I'm not trying to be combative here, but I don't understand the physics of that scheme. You still need air circulation. Otherwise it's just like the (insulated) inside of a house with the windows closed and the A/C turned off. Temperatur...

No soffit vents
From what I can tell, the "no soffit vents" movement started in California to help reduce homes' exposure to wildfire risk. Interesting that Austin has chosen to apply similar standards at Mueller.I can see where gable vents would allow em...
