Upgrades from Base Price/home on a Weekley
Mrs Murmur reminds me of one thing we didn't do but wish we had: outlets in certain closets and the pantry. They would be soooo helpful for charging things like dustbusters and power tools. Or for housing a wireless networked printer. Yo...

Upgrades from Base Price/home on a Weekley
I agree with dhs on the raised shower head. It makes a big difference. I also agree with those who say $10k is a good ballpark number. The last thing I'll say is that if you plan on doing lots of unique paint or lots of hardwood flooring...

* Upgrade vent fans in bathrooms. This is one of our favorite upgrades. Showers generate a LOT of moisture and the standard vent fans are adequate at best. They're also really loud, which discourages you from using them. The upgraded fa...

Clean Up After Your Dog!!!
To be honest, Ian, I wouldn't be very polite to someone I caught leaving dog poop in front of my house. I'd probably say something like, "Hey, you! Clean up after your damn dog you jerk."Dog poop isn't a pressing issue, but it's the kind ...

Looks like Jamba Juice is coming to the Mueller Food Court. Best smoothies in the world. Glad to see another tenant moving in now that Doc Greens is gone.

Who to call?
Some idiot with a red spray paint can decided to mark our alley, sidewalk, and driveway today--apparently because some work needs to be done in the easement. The idiot also spray painted our grass red, which is completely ridiculous and disr...

Furniture store recommendation? Gage?
We've had really good luck at a place called Home Consignment Center in Arbor Walk (Mopac and 183 near Home Depot). A lot of their stuff is discontinued new furniture, but there's plenty of clean stuff there on consignment as well. We boug...

Row Home Noise
We have a Westlake next door to a Bonnell and have had zero noise issues. Weekley puts two fire walls between each unit (plus insulation and drywall on each side). Before we moved in we conducted a test by yelling at the top of our lungs ...

Hard Freeze Tonight (1/13)
Watch those pipes and sprinklers, folks. From the Statesman... It’s been cold these past few days, but it’s about to get even colder, forecasters say. Tonight, there will be a hard freeze throughout most of Central Texas, with temper...

delivery people (and residents) suspected of burglary
Without knowing more, it sounds like the delivery guys were pretty thin skinned about the incident. Unmarked delivery truck in alley plus guys moving stuff around plus after dark = worth a look by security forces.

Speed Limit in Mueller Neighborhood?
Another option, long-term, may be similar to what the have in Boulder, CO. On many of the major residential streets they have stop lights that, in addition to operating like normal lights, also turn red if you're speeding. Thus, if you're d...

Speed Limit in Mueller Neighborhood?
I would absolutely be in favor of more speed limit signs. Some "Children At Play" signs near the playgrounds wouldn't hurt, either. (Nor would some "Scoop Your Dog's Poop" signs on the Mattie greenbelt and Wedge.)It would also be nice if ...

Senior Housing Coming to Mueller
It would be a good fit on the west (non-Tower) side of Berkman. The size is about right and senior housing would mix well with existing residential. This is an interesting development for Mueller. Maybe I'll get my parents to move there....
