3. Treasurer’s Report – Sandy
a. The reconciled bank balance at May 31st, 2014 is $ 8621.38. During May, there was $170.00 received, $10.00 in dues money, and $160.00 in FPF ad income. Checks were written totaling $266.99, including $150.00 for the McBee etal grant, $71.99 for the Bike to Work grant, $40.00 for MNA meeting coffee, and the monthly Frost bank fee of $5.00.
b. Today Sandy wrote a check to Mike’s Print Shop for $666.50 for the spring edition of the FPF. 1075 copies are expected to be delivered this weekend.
c. The basics of an MNA PayPal account have been set up. PayPal does not recognize a 501(c)(4) as a tax exempt organization with respect to discounted PayPal fees. Our charge will be 2.9% plus .30 per transaction. A $5.00 dues payment will become $ 5.44.
d. Sandy is currently waiting for the final launch of the new MNA webpage before PayPal can be activated. She will need the assistance of a web committee member to set up the “pay with PayPal” button on the new web site. We are also anticipating signing up for a PayPal card reader, similar to the Square, and she will need assistance with this setup also.
e. The first meeting of the MNA’s fledgling budget committee met May 20th, 2014. The committee members are Janeka, Helen, Karen and Sandy. MNA’s income sources, and expenses, in the framework of the needs of the four main committees (External Relations, Governance, Membership and Neighborhood Enhancement) , their subcommittees, and expectations of 2014 MNA activities were discussed. Since the fiscal year is half over, our goal is to establish a template to formalize the budget process for future MNA steering committees, and to be cognizant of the funds available for grant requests for the remainder of this fiscal year.
f. If you will be purchasing goods for the MNA, please email Sandy ( for a sales tax exemption certificate. We are not required to pay sales tax on our purchases, but we will be charged sales tax unless you present the exemption certificate. 8.25% savings!

4. Old Business
