Steering Committee Meeting Minutes
4001 Mendez St.
January 3, 2013
7:00 pm

1. Introductions, call meeting to order – all (5 min)
a. Present: Ashley, Shellie, Corky, Kevin, Jerry, Dan, Dennis, Travis, Kathy, Candice, Diane, Belinda, Betsy
b. Absent: Reem


2. Review and Approve Minutes (Nov & Dec) - Candice (10 min)
a. Shellie moved that we approve amended minutes
b. December minutes changes: SETL to SEDL. Change “Done” to Don and remove Ashley’s name.
c. Approved amended minutes


3. Treasurer’s Report - Diane (5 min)
a. Checking account balance $4713.29
b. $300 user fee to IRS in order to reinstate our tax-exempt status
i. Kevin moves we pay the $300 user fee in order to process the request
ii. Dan seconded
iii. Approved
c. Diane volunteered to put together a budget for the upcoming financial year w/ calendar of dues
i. Discussion of strategy for Front Porch Flyer too place
d. Will send a check to ANC for $35 dues


4. Existing Business - various (30 min)
a. Alley operations and signing update (Betsy)
i. Peter Marsh has been provided a summary of the comments available online
ii. Will post the following 2 topics for action at the General Meeting
1. One-Way signs in the alley
2. No Parking signs in the alley
iii. May suggest considering a smaller size for signs to city rep
b. City Council Redistricting Commission (Ashley)
i. Applications for auditors to select eligible commission members will be due/accepted by the end of the month in an effort to conduct a Nov election to draw maps
ii. General discussion of eligibility and commitment criteria took place
c. Affordable Housing update (if needed)
i. Housing bond failed making it more challenging to find matching funds (~$10M) for the city to facilitate additional affordable housing projects
ii. 10am Sat meeting at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church will address the topic
d. SC nominations for 2013 (Betsy)
i. 15-16 candidates have been identified
ii. Voting will take place 1st place during the General Meeting
1. Strategy will be to bring a list of paid members who are eligible to vote
2. Voting requirements will be posted on citicite.com


5. Action Items - NONE


6. Plan for Jan. 26 general meeting (10 min) -
a. Location?
i. SEDL has not committed, but it sounds promising (w/ no cost)
ii. Frost Bank is a backup
b. Elections
c. Business/Agenda
i. Elections
ii. Alley operations and No Parking signs - City of Austin
iii. PIAC Update should be a standing agenda item at each General Meeting
iv. Affordable Housing - Update by Diana McIver


7. Next meeting dates - Feb. 5 SC, Feb. 16 general


8. Additional Business/Open comments – all
a. Likely that there will be a yoga studio and art gallery at Wildflower Terrace
b. Thanks to existing members who will no longer serve committee
c. School Update: Citizens Bond Advisory Committee has established their recommendations for the board to hear this month. Recommendation includes enough funding for enough elementary schools to accommodate one in Mueller (based on growth).
