Featured Speaker
Hunter Cross is the artist selected for a City Art in Public Places (AIPP) project that will be included with a new EMS station located near the fire station on Airport. AIPP started in 1985 to commission art projects as part of the City Capital Improvement Program. The art will be in the Northwest Greenway and has a $40,000 budget. They're currently in the mid-design review phase and hope to start work in Fall 2010 with a Spring 2011 unveiling.

Hunter's project will use recycled glass to great a manmade 'geode' that will be illuminated from within. It will be about 8' W x 12' H x 8' D. The lighting will be LED and hopefully solar powered. All the details haven't been worked out yet. It will be located on the trail near the intersection of James Wheat and Robert Browning. According to the City representatives, the Mueller POA has agreed to be responsible for maintenance.
