Name: Mueller Babysitting Co-op
Community: Mueller Community
Moderator: JennaMartin
Website: You gotta e-mail me first.
Description: HOW DOES IT WORK? Basically the co-op works by gathering a group of Mueller parents together who trade time watching each other's kid(s). We use our own co-op currency, aka, Baio Bucks, to keep track of time spent babysitting. We ask that when requesting a babysitter from another parent to always be explicit if you are asking for babysitting or just a simple play date. Babysitting, in general, is a formal request for another parent to watch the kids while the parent(s) go out.

MUELLER CO-OP GUIDELINES:
1. Babysitting Bucks: Members agree to have 1/2 hour babysitting bucks. Each family receives 10 bucks per child-i.e. five hours per kid.A 15 minute late window is allowed before another 1/2 hour is charged.
2. Location/Time: The person asking for the sitter is responsible for making clear the desired location of babysitting; at child's home, at sitter's home or whatever works best for the sitter. The person asking for the sitter also should be clear about duration of sitting.
3. Expectations: All members are expected to provide behavior guidelines, emergency numbers, etc., with babysitting parent.
4. NO: 'No' is always an acceptable answer to babysitting requests- no excuses ever need to be offered. Requests can be sent to the group in general via e-mail or can be by phone.
5. Goodwill reigns.

The babysitting co-op is also a great resource for all things kid. We like to play and party together and are currently planning some social events in the fall.

HOW TO GET STARTED: If you are interested or have any questions, please e-mail Jenna Martin, at jennafernmartin@gmail.com. Please include a brief bio about you and your family.

Co-Op Meeting Notes: Sunday, August 23rd. The Tvartin House, 2005 Antone, about 20 people present, plus their offspring.

Progress on the Co-op: These questions were addressed to the group: What is going well? What do we need to fix? Most people liked the current co-op system. One issue of concern was the ‘cost of more than 1 child’, meaning each child costs the same amount in co-op buck hours. Member wondered if there was a way to graduate payment for people with more than 1 child. After discussion we decided we would keep the system we have, and we would be open to revisit the issue. Members with many kids, please let us know if this is a burden. When inviting new people, we discussed the delicate balance of keeping our information private, and being welcoming. We decided a short, simple survey asking new members about themselves would help with the problem. Questions would include where the new family lived, how they heard about us and a brief bio of their family. NOTE: the only restriction on entering the co-op is living in Mueller and having kids.

Meals on Heals: Huge shout out goes to Melanie Harshman for getting this great program up and walking. Megan Ackley and support team, Tonya Robertson have stepped up to take it over. After some discussion, we decided that we would go down from delivering five meals to four meals total and those meals would go out on Mondays and Thursdays (unless arranged with the family on a different day) in order keep the program sustainable. E-mail Megan Ackley if you have a suggestion for a family that needs a meal.

Toy /Gear Swap: Catherine Berry’s great idea. We are going to have a toy/gear swap with co-op members and other Mueller families. Contact Catherine Berry for more information.

Mueller Mammas and Pappas Online Community: Great and private online resource for all things Mueller family. The website is private because it contains phone numbers and addresses of Mueller families. The information went out to all co-op members and is open to all Mueller families and Mueller families only. The co-op is only one portion of the website and families are welcome to join without being part of the co-op. It contains a recommends section and discussion/announcement section about family events and issues. Contact Jenna Martin for more information. For those already in the know, please give feedback on what needs to be improved.

Second Sundays to play and hang out. Jenny Robson is hosting the next get together, but on the Third Sunday of the month, September 20th at 3:30. We will also discuss the Halloween Carnival on the wedge and play! Yippeeeee! Old, new and interested members are welcome to come.
