Name: Mueller Theatergoers
Community: Mueller Community
Moderator: Siebrise
Description: We like going to plays ... and interpretive dance ... and music ... and whatever. Basically, if it's performance art, we want to see and hear it.

Let's coordinate nights and tickets and see stuff together (PM, if you prefer, to avoid advertising in the open specific nights you will be away from your home).

Mike Daisey, This Tuesday and Wednesday!
by Siebrise on September 19th, 2010
Welcome to the group, Cat, and thanks for alerting me to Mike Daisey's performance this Tuesday and Wednesday.

See the link at Mueller Theatergoers for details, everyone, but here are hints from the Texas Performing Arts' Web site:

"equal parts humor and heart"

"masterfully tells the story of his journey to a remote South Pacific island whose people worship America and its 'cargo'"
Sorry Incommunicado for So Long
by Siebrise on September 11th, 2009
It's been a rough summer: illness, injury, extremely heavy workload. It's been nothing but work punctuated with physical therapy. But I'm grateful for work at all in these times and am slowly healing, so things are good overall, just busy.

Anyway, I hope to get this group going again soon. Sorry for the silence.
The Jungle
by Siebrise on June 23rd, 2009
Trouble Puppet Theater Company plans to perform The Jungle at the Salvage Vanguard Theater this September.

See http://www.austinonstage.com/troublepuppetconference for news about this show and Connor Hopkins, Founding Artistic Director of the company.

The Jungle is based on Upton Sinclair's novel of the same title, about the corruption of the meatpacking industry in early 20th century America.
ACC Spring 2009 Choreographers' Showcase
by Siebrise on April 27th, 2009
Hey, everyone.

One of the best art values for the dollar in Austin is ACC's Choreographers' Showcase, held at the end of spring and fall semesters in the Mainstage Theater of the Rio Grande campus (1212 Rio Grande). General admission is only $6 ($3 for seniors or students).

This is a little-known show that satisfies every time. Show times are 8:00 each evening, Friday and Saturday, May 8th and 9th. The Department of Dance will showcase several performances each night, each performance choreographed by either a student or faculty. In past semesters' showcases, some dances showed both nights, but some also showed only one of each night, so you can go both nights and see new stuff. At the end of each night's performance, audience members who want to can stick around for a Q&A with the dancers and faculty.

Due to other obligations, we personally can't go either evening this year, but we highly recommend the show.
Fences
by Siebrise on March 14th, 2009
Let's join up for a group walk to The City Theatre to see August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize–winning play Fences. We can meet at the Southwest Greenway's Pollen Grain sculpture and walk the few hundred yards to the theater, enjoy the show, and then walk back.

Next weekend is the last weekend for this play. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Any preferences? Tickets range from "Pay what you can Thursdays" to $25 for center seats in the first two rows.

Anyone Game for Dance Carousel?
by Siebrise on January 21st, 2009
Spank Dance Co. and AIC are performing forty one-minute pieces at the Salvage Vanguard Theater this Friday, 1/23/09, at 7:30 p.m.; this Sunday, 1/25/09, at 1:45 p.m.; and the following Saturday, 1/31/09, at 4:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 each.

We will most likely go to one performance. Anyone else interested? If so, for which performance?

Hi, AnnaSlade.

Thanks for joining, and welcome.

Thanks, too, for the link and the suggestion about the create-your-own season tickets. Some of the performances do appeal to the Siebrises personally.

Please be sure to post any you plan to attend here, or PM me and/or the other members of this group, and we'll see if we can get a few folks together and go.

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your post.

Hello!

I just joined your group.

Is anyone interested in attending some of the Austin Theatre's 2009/10 performances? I've found several I like. Here's the website: http://www.austintheatre.org. People can buy individual performance tickets or create their own season ticket by selecting several events. It looks like the price range for individual tickets is $20 to $55 apiece.

We've decided on Friday, 3/20/09 for seeing Fences. The weather should be great for an evening's walk.

Hey, everyone.

Welcome, TexasDramaQueen, and thank you for the discounts for From Head to Toe. It sounds intriguing.

bgierisch15, we haven't seen The Secret Lives of the InBetweeners.

Both shows run only through this weekend, so if anyone's interested, we should arrange tickets asap.

We're not sure if we'll personally be able to go to From Head to Toe yet, but we are planning to take advantage of the VORTEX's 2 for 1 (with a SafePlace donation) for this Thursday.

I just noticed that you listed the URL for the entire FronteraFest calendar at the end of your comment, GarrethWilcock. I hope I'm paying better attention at the performances.

Thanks, GarrethWilcock, for the info on the Blue Theater (916 Springdale Road). I couldn't find their upcoming schedule on their Web site, but the Long Fringe schedule, including those pieces to be performed at the Blue Theater, as well as links to buy tickets, are on Hyde Park Theatre's Web site.

I was planning on hitting the Dick Monologues at FronteraFest. I think it's the long fringe though. I've been to see it four times as it's grown and evolved and it's hilarious.

Am probably going to save myself for the Saturday 1/31 performance. Just down the road on Springdale at the Blue Theater
