moving roof vents for solar installation
by Andrew Neitzke on May 10th, 2012

Hi,

We're interested in putting some solar panels on the south-facing part of our roof at 2117 Zach Scott. Lighthouse Solar proposed a plan that would involve moving a couple of roof vents. They made it sound like no big deal, and so far they seem perfectly trustworthy -- but naively, as a person who knows nothing about home construction, cutting holes in the roof sounds like a big deal to me! Does anyone have any experience with this (good or bad)?

Thanks!

Andy

Andrew -

Texas Solar proposed the same thing for our roof and I too was a bit hesitant. We went forward without problems and it was a very quick and simple process.

If you are uncomfortable with them doing it you could probably ask them to show you how they go about doing it. I used Longhorn Solar and I've had a few people call me about the work they did. Maybe Lighthouse Solar will let you call a few of their customers who had their roof vents moved by them?

Good Luck!

Hey Andrew,

Congrats on taking steps to go solar!

Movie vents is a pretty standard procedure that is easily completed by a licensed contractor. I'd ask for the contractor credentials and go from there.

If you need any additional help or have questions, you can use the http://muellermegawatt.org website for reference. There is an "11 Steps to go Solar in Mueller" document that will be helpful.

Good luck!

Aman

Thanks a lot for all the info! I'll press them for a few more details, but it's very helpful to know that this is indeed something that's commonly done.

Moving the roof vents for the installation of the solar is a post contributed by the citi cites members. The interest here is to put the panel on specified distance and keep the precautions under observation at the australianwritings time of need that can make it good and comfortable.
