Reminder that Saturday, July 12th, will be the Monthly Mueller Neighborhood Assn meeting from 10a to whenever we finish up. It will be held at at the new Mueller neighborhood park outside the pool at the picnic tables. There are several trees that will hopefully provide some shade.

Hope to keep seeing more new residents at each meeting - the MNA is important in representing the community's interests with local government and other non-member groups such as Catellus as well as fostering community involvement and addressing common issues.

Last month's meeting included the election of the MNA steering committee members.

This month's agenda so far includes:
Announcement of the MNA officers as elected by the steering committee
Neighborhood Watch Program presentation and information by APD Officer Salsbury.

Please send me any items you would like added to the agenda so we can post them on the forum in advance of the meeting.

There seems little doubt that we are connecting as neighbors in this Mueller paradise. We're watching movies in the Garden Court, we're throwing impromptu parades with music and juggling, our children our playing together, and we've organized a Mueller Neighborhood Association (MNA).

This Saturday (tomorrow) at Ella Wooten Park and Pool on McCloskey from 10:00am to 11:00am, the MNA will hold its monthly meeting to discuss a variety of neighborhood topics, including:

- a Neighborhood Watch presentation by a representative of Austin Police Department
- an introduction of the MNA Officers, the MNA Steering Committee and an overview of the goals of the MNA
- a discussion of the $10 MNA annual household dues and what service offerings are envisioned for those dues.
- opportunities for residents to join a variety of interest groups, clubs and committees
- future events and issues relevant to the MNA.

HI Fearless Committee members,

There was discussion at the Sat 07/12th meeting on where to meet in the winter months that is inepensive and comfortable. I suggest that in the winter months the monthly Mueller Neighborhood Assoc meeting be held in a public library. I am on three "board of directors" and we use the public library meeting rooms for our annual or other meetings. you/we have to be a non-profit (501 3 c) but I think they will accept it if we are in the process of getting that certification.

anther question, is the MNA going to be a 501(c) 3 or a 501(c) 4? I have helped setup 501 (c) 3s and could give input on that.

3. Officer Salsbury � APD- Neighborhood Watch information

? Break-ins and thefts have occurred in the neighborhood. Crime has skyrocketed in surrounding neighborhoods. With construction contractors around, it is difficult to tell who should be in the area.

? If you see something occurring, call 911. To report a crime you did not see, call 311. Contact Alliance for things like overgrown lawns, abandoned cars, etc.

? Use your alarms, lock doors and gates, but most importantly, keep an eye open for suspicious activity. APD and Catellus patrol the area, but aren�t enough.

? To form Neighborhood Watch, think small groups of 6-9 homes that have good visibility of each other. Exchange home and work phone #s, basic schedules and communicate about vacations or visitors. Look for information to be posted on Muellercommunity.com.

4. Dues
� $10 dues may be paid to Dusty Harshman. Dues money finances the newsletter, events, and Muellercommunity.com. Those who pay dues will be able to vote at MNA meetings. The $10 dues paid now will last through the end of 2009.

� We anticipate that in the future, advertising in the newsletter may offset the amount of dues.

� A mock-up of a newsletter was available for an example. In the beginning it will be quarterly, but is anticipated to be a bimonthly in the future.

� Muellercommunity.com is currently a volunteer effort, but with many new functions to come we need to make it worth the while of the webmaster.

� An example of an upcoming event is a Neighbors� Night Out Barbeque Cook-Off, possibly in the Garden Court, on October 7. See http://www.nno.org/nno/ for more information on the national event.

5. Neighborhood Block Captains
Concern was expressed that the Steering Committee elections were held without enough prior publicity. Notice was given via Muellercommunity.com and the Yahoo list serve.
Block Captains are a no-tech way of keeping neighbors informed of what is going on. They should be letting you know about meetings. Some people don�t know who their BC is. Bobby G created the map and signed up more volunteers. If you don�t know your representative, ask Bobby or a neighbor.
Other neighbors mentioned signage at the entrance of the neighborhood to advertise as well.
Muellercommunity.com is really the best way to get information, if you have access to a computer. Residents who have yet to move in can learn from the experience of those who already live here.

6. Committees
There are several committees forming that need volunteers. Please sign up and be a part of the Events or Welcome Committees.
Also, feel free to submit ideas, stories or photos for the Newsletter. Elizabeth B. and Drew H. and Dusty H. are the newsletter committee.

7. The Steering Committee wants to know what the MNA can do for you. Ideas submitted at the meeting were:
� Find out about the replacement or repair of items damaged by construction or storms, such as street lights, street name signs, and curbs. Catellus will be contacted regarding these issues.
� To be a link between Catellus and the residents
� To create an online neighborhood directory
� To plan events

We are looking into alternative meeting locales.

Hi All.

I know this meeting has already come and gone, but I had somehow overlooked the thread.

In any event, I just wanted to thank you all for taking any time at all to discuss the potential future of muellercommunity.com. I know I hve been posting little updates here and there and can assure you all that progress is definitely being made - just with some minor deviations along the way (hence some time setbacks).

I'm looking forward to meeting with everyone and discussing how the site will continue to move forward. Though it is difficult to quantify the amount of time that has gone into the site in the past year, I am thrilled to have been a part of the Mueller effort and can't thank you all enough for the kind and motivational words. It is definitely my intention to continue development of the site, and hopefully in the near future to provide other neighborhoods with similar toolkits.

At the MNA meeting, several neighbors inquired about construction damage being repaired. I contacted Catellus and here is their reply:
