Ground level shops at Mosaic

There's been a lot of discussion on this board over the past couple of years about the desire for a coffee shop and a bar in the neighborhood. I know someone has posted before soliciting ideas about what we'd like to see in a coffee shop.

We are aware that a couple of Mueller residents had been negotiation with Simmons Vedder to lease space on the ground level of the Mosaic for a bar. We were thrilled with the possibility of finally having some place we can easily walk to. However, after months of negotiation, the deal fell through because Simmons Vedder found another tenant who wanted to lease more square footage. As a result, a franchise doggie day care will be going in, rather than a bar.

I was really hoping we'd get local businesses (hard to be more local than Mueller resident owned) that would be of interest to a majority of the community. I'm not sure what happened with the coffee shop venture but it's disappointing to see both of these fall through.

I wonder what folks who live in the Mosaic want to see locate there.

I'm interested in whether this is the sort of business residents were hoping would locate here. Maybe there are people who are interested in this service, and I just don't happen to be one of them.

Please chime in to let developers know what type of businesses the community is wanting!

Betsy

Every neighborhood needs a bar and a coffee shop. I think that both types of businesses would thrive. I would venture to say that most Muellerites frequently partake in the stimulant/depressant routine.

I bike to Nomad, our adopted neighborhood bar off of Cameron, somewhat regularly, but would love to see my more of my neighbors at a local watering hole. Come to think of it, might not be a bad way to earn a living.

So bummed about the doggie daycare. Think it's a horrible idea, and am sad for our residents who got beat out by a franchise. We totally need a neighborhood hang out--I can't see the doggie day care as a reasonable viable option for that space. I am curious to see how it will do. I'm dubious, for sure.

Anyway, I wish we had more say in these things. Businesses, schools, etc. Seems like we're at the mercy of the powers that be. Not a pleasant feeling.

I'm with you on the disappointment! I was SO looking forward to this establishment here! Doggy day care???? seriously, is there a need for this that I am missing? Simmons Vedder needs to do better than this.

I think one concern would be where are they going to take the dogs out to "play".

Nice - sounds like an opportunity for a LOT more doggie deposits in the neighborhood
