I just want to say that we are still very happy with our Streetman. The neighborhood is wonderful. The parks are beautiful and I am so glad that we live in such a great place!

We would echo those sentiments on our Standard Pacific house. We love to walk the trails with our dogs and are pleased to see so many neighbors enjoying the public areas as we do. We feel very fortunate to be so close to everything, yet with so many amenities at our doorstep.

The parks and landscaping are shaping up beautifully, and we particularly enjoy keeping an eye on our ducks. The pink-billed ones recently moved their nine ducklings to the south lake. And does anybody know anything about the green parrot-looking birds we have seen by the northwestern lake?

They ARE parrots! Austin has several colonies of 'wild' parrots. Over the years when people have released their pet parrots or they have escaped, the parrots have found each other and formed sustainable colonies. I think it is really cool, although I'm sure there are environmental problems since they weren't really meant for this environment. Anyway, I know of 2 groups of them, one that hangs out near Zilker and another that hangs out around the UT intermural fields. Perhaps they are checdking Mueller out. I saw 2 of them in one of the trees by the pool yesterday. I believe they mate for life, at least they are always in pairs. - Torie

And here I thought my wife was just nuts. I grew up with parrots roosting in my grandparents trees in deep south Texas, but when she said she heard them around the neighborhood... Well, lets just say I wasn't so sure. Hopefully, they are not too environmentally damaging...perhaps the environment has changed (to their benefit & to other critters' detriment) to allow them to sustain a colony. If the environment weren't suitable to them, they likely would have moved off already in search of better habitat.

Maybe they could be the mascot for the elementary school; why not...by the time it gets built, they'll likely have established an even greater presence.

Austin is actually mentioned as one of the cities in North America where Feral Parrots http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feral_parrots have been successful.

I saw 4 parrots flying through Wooten park this morning. They flew to a tree between the pool and Pinckney. Love those little cuties.
Anybody else have a sighting to report?

There are at least a dozen or more of these guys, and they are often together. I usually see (and hear) them near Manor Road in the other park by the lake or across the street, or they will be on the other side of the neighborhood in the other park.

Anybody get a good picture of them?

We saw 2 parrots on Zach Scott by the lake park and the row homes the other day. I tried to talk to them, but they didn't have much to say back. Maybe we can teach them to say Mueller with a perfect German accent!

Yup, here's a pic I took today in Lake Park. They sounded like they had French accents so no dice on the Mueller pronunciation I think ;)
