We had the same problem of mixed mail in the boxes on Scales. We talked to the Post Office about it and they definitely want to know for they admittedly have had problems with delivery persons and performance issues. When we reported it, a Postal Inspector folllowed up with a phone call to us to gather further details. If the package boxes are broken, please report this to the Post Office and insist that they be repaired.

We get stuff all the time that has the right number on it, but wrong street. It's usually Hermalinda instead of Hargis. Anyway, I feel for the postal delivery people having to decipher the matrix of mail boxes, but maybe they need to reassign someone who's really good at that. I think letting them know is a good idea.

I, too, get mail addressed to my house number but a different street. And my mail gets delivered to other folks' addresses sometimes. In one case, a sizable check was misdelivered, which created some financial problems. I agree with judthomas that maybe some reassignment is in order if this is a continuing problem.

Yeah, this has happened to me several times too. If I know the person I drop it by their house, otherwise I just put it in the "out" box.

Our mail used to get mixed up regularly, too, with neighbors with the same house number on Antone. Once a prescription medication was delivered to them, which would have caused a real problem if they had been out of town and we hadn't been able to find it quickly. I filed a complaint on the USPS web site, and that has helped.

Ditto for me on the mis-delivered mail and what I do about it. I'm currently looking for a package that's overdue by several days. I plan to file a complaint on the USPS website -- thanks for the suggestion.

I have gotten mail for other people. It's usually on the same street or nearby so I drop it off at their front door. This seemed to happen more around the holidays so maybe it was temp staff?

I drop it off, too. I keep hoping it'll be an opportunity to meet more neighbors. But so far, the 2 times it's happened, no one's answered the door. I'm leaving it tucked into the door itself. Hopefully folks are going out the front of their house once in a while.

We, too, have received mail for other addresses. We hand-delivered misdelivered mail to our neighbors, and they hand-delivered ours to us. It also seemed to us to peak during the holidays.

It has turned out to be an additional way to stay in touch with the wonderful people we've met here over the last year or so.

Not saying the Postal Service shouldn't try to do better; just saying that our neighbors make it easier to take it in stride.

Quote:
You can pick up packages on Saturday mornings at that post office. Not sure of exact hours, but you have to ring the bell for service at the pick up window.

I had to go to the Post Office today to get a package, and they said the hours for the window are 7:30am to 10:30am on Saturdays.
