Parking issues

Does anyone know the latest concerning the parking issues in the community? I am particularly interested in the number of cars parked on Cal Rodgers. Yesterday I noticed a car parked in front of the fire hydrant. Typically cars are parked so close to the entrance of the alley that it is difficult to turn into it. There is not a "no parking sign" in that section...yet. Why aren't more people using their garages?

As I'm sure you know, this is a big can of worms you're opening. I still vote for one street parking permit per household plus an allotment of 7-day visitors permits every year.

Golly, I know it's hard to clean out your garage enough to fit a car or two inside, but lots of families (many with kids!) manage to do it. There isn't enough parking to have two cars in front of every house, so we must find a way to ration.

I was working on the front porch for about an hour or so yesterday evening around 6-8pm, and there was plenty of parking available on Cal Rodgers.

Cars parked illegally should be reported to the city. I'm particularly sensitive to cars that block emergency access. Call 311 or 512-974-2000.

Perhaps we should move all parking discussion to the "politics" forum.
