Permits are in!
by Rachel C. on October 17th, 2009

We just got word that our permits are in! We are building a SP home at 2628 Tom Miller and are so excited. Due to the rain we fear our move in date will be moved back, but I have seen homes going up at lightening speed recently.

Can anyone fill me in on a few averages going from their own experiences?
For example, from the time we have the permits, how long does it take to pour foundation? After that how long did you see it take to get the frame up?

Has anyone worked with Brian the builder? What were your experiences?

Hi, Rachel and Dianne!

Welcome to the neighborhood! We, too, are in a Standard Pacific home at 2009 Antone. Stop by sometime and introduce yourselves.

We originally signed our paperwork to build right after the lottery in May, 2007. We moved in in May, 2008, but there was so much going on out here at that time that I'm afraid we can't really give you specific timelines. They were line-building at the time, and we had heavy, heavy rains during the process as well.

We did, however, have the pleasure of working with Brian with SP. He is a true professional and a gentleman. Everything he told us he would do was done quickly, and he always made himself available at the drop of the hat if needed. Our whole SP process was wonderful, and we have only good things to say about the whole crew. Having been in our home for over a year now, we have to say that everything is very sound, and our one-year inspection uncovered "the fewest problems of any house (our inspector) had seen in the past six or eight months." We have been very pleased, and we are sure you will be, too.

Oh, and you will love the neighborhood!

Hi Rachel and Dianne,

Welcome to our neighbourhood. I am at 2604 Tom Miller (Brandon Mode) and so excited to start seeing neighbours on my right hand side.

Brian and all the crew at Standard pacific homes are really nice to work with. We had moved in this house for over a year now and the 1 year warranty service is also good and responsive.

Building a house is both a Joy and Painful experience. You have to follow every step that they do, every builders is the same, they are trying to achieve the certain quality with the lowest cost they can do. I hope that SP home had changes due to the current ecomony.

Stop by sometime and introduce yourselves, I can surely share some experience with you.

Thanks for your reply! I know Marie talks about how wonderful you too are all the time. Also, Dianne worked in AISD for years and is now an assistant principal at Westlake HS, so I think Marie thought we would have the educator family in common!

We will stop by soon, and cannot wait to join the neighborhood!
Thanks for the thoughts!
