Toilet Paper Holders

I give up! Every time I think I have it figured out, the stupid thing gets loose and falls off again. Is anyone else having this issue? The arm that you slide the toilet paper onto, just keeps falling off. I know there is a tiny screw in the bottom, and I have made sure it is tight, but that doesn't seem to help.
Is there a trick to getting them to stay on? Or should I just break down and invest in new ones :)

I am so there with you! I love the way those things look, but they fall off all of the time! Once they are off and the tp rolls, my kids realize how fun tp is when it starts rolling... you get the picture!
I have found no tricks and we are ready to buy new ones. Felicia

Felicia - and any others that are equally as annoyed by the tp holder issue :)
I decided to tell Mysti Burgess, with the warranty department, about the issue and she agreed to contact the manufacturer and see if there is something that can be done.
I will keep you updated on her response. I am hopeful they will fix them or replace them so we don't have to.
It seems silly, but it is majorly annoying so I decided to just see if they would address it before spending my money on new ones.

Cool! Let me know what you hear back. I just had to dig the little arm thingy out of a full trash can that it had fallen into for the millionth time and clean up a roll of soggy tp that someone - ahem, twins - put into the tub to clean after it fell off the holder.

If anyone else is having this issue, you need to contact Mysti Burgess with Meritage's Warranty department. Apparently there is a "specific allen wrench" that is needed to tighten them so they stay on. My guess is ours weren't put on correctly to begin with. Hopefully once the magic tool is used to tighten the screw, this will solve this most annoying problem :) Here is her information, if you don't already have it: Mysti Burgess Customer Care Coordinator Meritage & Monterey Homes - Austin Division (512) 610-4800 (512) 615-6420 direct line (512) 610-6767 fax email: mysti.burgess@meritagehomes.com

When I have screws backing out on my bike I use nail polish. It allows you to take the screws out later if needed but keeps them from vibrating out during use. I might try this on the toilet paper holders.

Looks like I was lucky, since my Meritage toilet paper holders always stayed put so far. I found an allen wrench of the right size in my toolbox, I'll be happy to lend it out for emergency repairs. Lub2Bike - I'm trying hard not to think about what would cause the screws to vibrate out during use .

Or.... it could be because you don't have a 2 year old (or set of 3 year olds) constantly playing with it

For any of you who are frustrated, the short answer is there is no fix other than to continue to tighten the tiny screw on the bottom. You can make it really tight so the bar won't swing at all... BUT if you "bump" it or if your child "pulls" on it, the screw will just loosen and eventually the dumb thing will fall apart again.
I think I'll try keeping an allen wrench in all the bathroom cabinets :) And I'll try the nail polish trick! Thanks for posting that!

Maybe Loctite Tite 'N for Bolts. I think you can buy this at Home Depot, WalMart, or Target.

I have used them on some car parts to help keep screws in place.
