My husband and I are expecting a baby girl in September. We are looking for recommendations for both pediatricians and day cares. Any thoughts?

Congratulations!!! Be sure to let us know after you have the baby. We can deliver meals for a couple weeks through Meals on Heels! Just PM me and we'll get you set up.

Baby daycare is tough. St. Luke's Infant Care Center on West Lynn is awesome if you can get in...but they usually have a waiting list. I'd get on a couple waiting lists NOW!!! I know of a good nanny as well...that might be the route to go in the first year. Daycare at 18 months and older--St. George's off Airport is AWESOME. We're very happy there and there are tons of Mueller kids that go there.

Take care,
Meghan

Rebecca,

I'm due at the beginning of August and has had many recommendations for Dr. Hughes at Capital Pediatrics. I called yesterday and they are taking new patients.
As far as daycares we are only looking for Spanish emersion programs. We have gotten 3 recommendations for those programs. The one we are interested in has a really long waiting list, but the other two do not have a waiting list, so we will be using one of them until the other one is open. If you are interested in one of those pm me and I can give you the info.

Good luck with your new addition.

Congrats!

We go to Capital Pediatrics and find them very easy to work with, i.e., can get in pretty quick for sick visits and the evening and weekend hours are helpful.

Open Door Preschool is under a mile away from Mueller. They've been around for almost 30 years and are amazing! Both of my kids go there. They can take kids as young as 3 months, but definitely call to get on the list now! There is no fee to get on the list, it just means you'll get a call when a spot opens up. Open Door is going to have a brand new facility open up near the MLK train station. So that will mean lots of open slots at a quality daycare close by. Not sure when that is happening though, it may not even be for another year.
