I think it's time to have a party. I'd like to really meet everyone. I'm proposing the last Sunday in March. How about having it on the half block of Emma Long btw Tom Miller and Comacho. I'll put up some cones or something to block the street off in front of my house 1909 Emma Long, (what little traffic we get can certainly go around one block) and we can either set up food on tables, in the street or on my porch or even in my house. I think a potluck would be fun. I'd be happy to provide beverages.
Any thoughts?

Some of us on Lawless Street were also talking about having a house warming block party in late March or early April.
We envisioned it to be a bit more ad hoc: basically, there would be several people opening up their porches and living rooms for a house warming party, and neighbors could just drift among and visit the various houses having wine and cheese at one place, and maybe margaritas and queso at another. This will hopefully be the first of many Lawless block parties.
We'll make sure it's not the same weekend as the Emma Long block party!
Emma Long and Lawless are both great ideas, and I agree it's time. There's another option that might be worth considering. In Patterson Park, just across Airport Blvd, there is a covered picnic area with tables and two huge grills. It can be reserved and is available at least one Sat or Sun every weekend in April. It costs $60, but there's a great playscape for the kids, tennis courts and a pool (which might not be open in April), and the cover would be good if weather turns bad.
If we want to go that way, I'm happy to book it, but we should decide soon, as it starts getting booked pretty fast.
I don't want to go to Patterson park after waiting over two years to move into my lovely new home, which we'll be moving into on that last weekend in March. Count me and my french horn out of that action.
Now, I love the idea of a block party near my house since I'm certain everyone will want to unload a box and help me move. You all really don't have to go thru all this trouble disguising all the moving help as a block party. Looks like it's time for an emoticon!
Yeah, although Pat park is cool I think a big part o the fun is being able to stumble home without dealing with Airport. And have it in our very own neighborhood finally! So, let's say March 30th is the date. Maybe 3-6 PM kinda thang? If its bad weather we'll postpone to the next weekend or something.
I'll make some flyers and stick them on everyone's door. Yes, I'll be THAT obnoxious neighbor, tee hee hee.
Sounds like I should get a keg if we're having improvised french horns on the loose. We're just boring guitar players over here...
Anyone have some card tables we could set food up on ? Or should we have food in the house? I think there may be too many people to have all the food indoors but maybe not? thoughts again?
Just FYI, everyone in the hood is invited to this...not just people on our block. I'd love to meet as many people living here or about to live here as possible.
