As I've noted before, this list contains two "do not plant" lists. The first applies only to builders and contains plants that are not in the design character of Mueller - plants like Italian cypress; builders can't plant these and the Mueller designers wish you wouldn't.
Edit: just noticed that Dan's pointer was to the Grow Green guide that I cited as well, and not to the Mueller plant list. That's in the back of the "Residential Modification Guidelines" on this page:
http://www.muelleraustinonline.com/community_documents.php The second list contains invasive plants that nobody can plant - like non-clumping bamboo and kudzu. Most of those should be common sense.
Other good sources for plant advice for central Texas are:
-- the city of Austin's planting guide available for free at most nurseries and online here:
http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/growgreen/plantguide/searchplant.cfm -- the Wildflower center, particularly their Mr. Smarty Pants advice column:
http://www.wildflower.org/expert -- KLRU's Central Texas Gardener program - online they have "reruns" of both old and new shows:
http://www.klru.org/ctg -- they also have an abundance of plant lists in the "Resources" drop-down menu on that page.
