Next year’s Parade of Homes builder showcase will be at Mueller, the first time in decades the popular event has been in Central Austin.
The event will feature five $1 million-and-up homes, the first time such expensive residences have been built at Mueller. All are by local builder, and all will be built to earn the highest five-star rating from Austin Energy’s green building program.
The homes will range in size from 3,000 to 4,500 square feet.
The architects and builders are: Architecture 365 for Bill Taute Homes Barley & Pfeiffer for Durrett Interests; Cornerstone Group Architects for Cool River; Michael Hsu Design Office for the Muskin Co.; and Texas Four Star Architects for Streetman Homes.
Muskin and Streetman have built other homes at Mueller; the other builders are new to the project, which is turning Austin’s former airport into a new community of residences, offices, stores and medical facilities.
“We’re eager to bring the 2009 Parade of Homes to a large audience that is enthusiastic about the latest in sustainable, new urban home design,” said Matt Whelan, senior vice president of Catellus Development Group, the master developer for Mueller.
The Parade of Homes, sponsored by the Homebuilders Assoiciation of Greater Austin will run from May 23 to June 7.
