October Book Club - Omnivore's Dilemma
by langhugh on October 26th, 2009

Tomorrow, we'll meet to chat about Omnivore's Dilemma from 8:00pm to 10:00pm at the 4124 Lawless.

For those interested in joining us, please know that completing the book is not necessarily a prerequisite for attending. Particularly with non-fiction, if you have a passing interest in our food system, you might enjoy the discussion.

Here are a few resources about Michael Pollan and his view of the food system:

1. Michael Pollan's New York Times Letter to the Farmer-in-Chief

2. Video Interview with Bill Moyers

3. Video Talk at 2007 TED Conference

Mueller Book Club good reads...April - September 2010
by Rod on May 8th, 2010

For your August choice, a little foreshadowing:

Well before this book by R Skloot appeared, one learned of the efforts of one scientist to do what a scientist should when learning that an area of science was being adversely influenced by 'bad data', in this case by the cell types not being what (hundreds!) of research papers were stating that they were. His efforts were met...well, let us say, not with welcoming gratitude by those whose scientific work was being called into question!

Immortal AND Ubiquitous!
