On Saturday night, April 11th, 7.30pm at The Belmont, the Austin Planetarium is throwing an event to raise money for the hopes of building a planetarium in Austin. The event Yuri's Night is a collection of 200 parties spread through out the world to celebrate the accomplishment of the first man in space, Yuri Gagrin. There has been a few others parties in Austin, but no other one that promoted space like the Planetarium event. We are the largest city that does not have a planetarium. Perspective location of the planetarium will be across from the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.
The donation required is $25.00, which will get you great Russian food, drinks, music, and dancers. Richard Garriott will also have some time to speak about the project and space in general. There will also be great raffle items. Admission is free after 10.30pm.
Belmont is located at 305 W 6th St.
