Our neighbors found a baby bird yesterday. I am not sure if it can fly yet. It must have fallen out of its nest. It is crouched next to their fence since yesterday afternoon. Anyone know who to contact to come and pick it up? I think it might be a dove.

Thanks,
Erica

There is a nonprofit off E. MLK, a little east of here, where someone can take it. It may be called Wildlife Rescue. It is on the south side between Franklin and 183, not real obvious, a mailbox at the entrance, I think. I have taken several animals there over the years.

I don't know if this is the same place Melanie is talking about, but here is an option:

They also have info on their webpage about what to do in the meantime. PM me if you need someone to take it there.

Try Austin Wildlife Rescue at 472-WILD or go to their website here:

Good luck!

Thanks everyone. My neighboor took the bird over and had it checked out. And was told to put the bird back where it was. Momma bird is still feeding it.

THanks,
Erica

I learned this last year in a similar situation, but mama birds push their babies out of the nest and then teach them to fly from the ground.
