Changes to Alliance/Time-Warner cable/internet deal?
by henningspruth on April 24th, 2012

My tendency is to stick with Time Warner ... I priced a bundle similar to the current service on their web site, and it comes out to around $62 plus taxes and fees, see below.

Changes to Alliance/Time-Warner cable/internet deal?

I got a quote over the phone from Time Warner for interent and cable (two DVRs and 200 channels). Time Warner is $129.95 and U-verse is $102 for the first 6 months, plus a $50 bonus for signing up, which pays for installation. Then they go up to $132 per month, but I can record up to 4 programs at a time and I'm not sharing internet service with my neighbors which slows it down at peak hours.

From what I can tell, Time Warner is basically putting us at the regular rates they offer everyone else, so I'll probably be switching. I just wish we had more
notice from the HOA as I am going on vacation. Did I miss a prior notice somehow?

U-verse is offering a better deal than Time Warner, at least for the first 6 months. I may check it out. Anyone have comments about U-verse? Other suggestions?

After spending a long time on the phone yesterday speaking to several TWC folks the "special" offer was $98 for the exact same service we now get for $67. I'm not feeling very special.

Henning, I wouldn't mind paying $61.98 (based on your post) but I just got off the phone with TWC and was given the same rate as Dan of $98.98 for the same cable and internet "bundled" rate as we have now.

Was told that if I didn't grab this special bundled rate, TWC would automatically default our plan to their standard prices which would be $117/month for the exact same thing.

So, please let me know if you really do get the $62 rate and if it's only good for an introductory period, etc. New prices go into effect next Monday so need to make a decision fast!

Thanks to everyone for sharing what all ya'll are finding so we can each learn from each other's research.

I'm still undecided ... based on kerry's report on page 9 of this thread, we can keep the internet only for $34 or so. I'm considering this in combination with a better HDTV antenna for my TiVo, the money saved may be better spent on Netflix ...

I called ATT about U-verse and got better rates than the local store provided me. Mueller is on their fiber optics network so we get better rates.

I am only interested in cable and internet. Time Warner quoted $129.95 for the same package below that I'm getting for $85 with ATT (plus taxes of course).

Here's my U-verse deal on U-300 service with 6 months of movie channels (2 TVs) and 12 mb of internet:

$85 for 6 months and a $100 Visa gift card after 30 days of service. Then it jumps to $141 per month; however, I plan to reduce that by getting rid of the movie channels. Then I expect it to be more in line with what Time Warner is charging, but I'll check back for rates in 6 months.

For now, I'm saying good bye to Time Warner this weekend.

I just called the 855-222-7404 number and spoke to Sherry. She said they got an email about Mueller yesterday and she quoted me many promo packages.

I ended up going with basic cable and road runner turbo for $49.99 per month (probably $57 after taxes).

If you are considering ATT, they recently had a special where you could get 12mb internet (so like four times faster than our basic ATT internet) for $30 a month for a year. I had to ask about it and it took them a while to locate the deal, but they gave it to me. The fast service is awesome with netflix, etc! This was last week - so not sure if it is still going on.

I'm annoyed with how the HOA has handled this, as they've made it seem like Time Warner has a special team dealing with this transition for us, which hasn't been my experience in my communication with TWC. However, they're basically offering me the promo price for our bundled phone/cable/internet package at $89/month for the next year.
