Bicycle Stolen
by Scott Conn on January 3rd, 2011

I've been on Threadgill for just over a year now. It has been about 8 months since I last drove off forgetting to close my garage door. Sunday night, between 10pm and 1:30am a person made off with my bike.
A black Redline d440, 8-speed, 29" wheels, white headlamp, red light on seat post, bottle rack, some mud splatter, it's a cool bike.

A friendly reminder:
It takes just one time walking off for a moment or forgetting to hit that button.

And, you won't see them, but they are out there watching. This sucks, but it could be worse. There was more in there to get, but it appears that there was no search. Grab bike and go. I thought that I was good about the garage door thing, but not this time.

So sorry to hear about your bike.

This has been mentioned before in earlier threads, but for about $50 you can buy an Autocloser and hook it up to your garage door. It will automatically close your door after a certain amount of time if you forget. An inexpensive way to avoid theft!

The Autocloser works great and you can set the time from just a few minutes to longer. Highly recommended.

We have also left our door open in the past. We have a garage door closer for sale. It is still in the plastic container unused. It is from http://www.closethegarage.com as listed above by Betsy. We have SP model which is the same as the SP2 listed below.

They are $89 online now. Make an offer. It will take less than 5 minutes to install.

Has anyone istalled this device on a Marantec garage door opening system? I cannot find the Test Switch, which is the fist step. I feel pretty silly. Anyone have a clue? I have some fresh baked orange blueberry muffins for the person with the right answer.

Grant installed ours a while back, do not remember the details, but you are welcome to come look at ours if it would help.
