We got a door hanger from COA offering free thermostat install to help save money, energy, etc. as a participant in the Free Thermostat program to allow our AC to be cycled on peak demand days.

2 Questions:

1. Does anyone have any more info about this?
2. Has anyone sign up for it?

Thank you...

In my previous house, I had them come in and install a new digital thermostat. The process was simple, call for an appointment and they come out and do the install and show you how to use all of the settings.

Ther was no real impact to the unit, the thermostat showed when it was being cycled.

"If you have any Austin Energy Thermostat installed in your home, your thermostat will receive our signal to cycle on curtailment days, meaning you are probably signed up for the program."

"All Austin Energy thermostat are set to cycle off. The way you would know when your thermostat is cycled off, I"m not sure which of the two thermostats you have installed in your home, but if you have a Honeywell thermostat the word SAVE will appear in the thermostat display window when it's cycled off. If you have a White-Rodgers thermostat the GREEN LED light will be ON and the word SAVE will appear on the display window when the thermostat is cycled off. Again we only cycle off A/C units only 10 min of every 30 min on days we need to conserve energy, not just during hot spells."
