Quote: here's what we received. Requested a hearing - it worked last year
I think we have the same floor plan and my appraisal was at 302 and change. I've got the form and I want to protest but never being through the process I'm not sure what I need to collect to do so. Very willing to share with whomever and work together. :)
See langhugh's (Dusty's) note above and/or the appraisal info you received. In short you need to begin the protest process and ask for the County's comparable properties.

What is the justification being used. I will do the same.

We submitted our protest immediately after receiving the increased appraisal, requested the County send us the comparable they used and will wait unti we lreceive that before deciding how to proceed.
On the appraisal district's form the 1645 sq ft Meritage Vaughan/Keeton is shown to be 1720 sq ft.
I went to the ARB today and they adjusted from $315k down to $312k total.
I tried to show that similar homes built by the same builder have much lower $/sq ft, but I guess I failed to speak their language.
I agree we have appreciation, but not 10%.
I can go to district court to appeal. Any advice would be appreciated. This has been frustrating, because everyone I spoke with said that it was a piece of cake to go to the hearing and they often come down on the appraisal.
