To: Jennifer Haas Harvey, CMCA
Community Manager, Alliance Association Management

On Saturday, August 1, 2009 at approximately 8:30 p.m. I observed feces in the kid's pool at Ella Wooten Park in the Mueller neighborhood. The lifeguards were already gone. This morning, August 2, I noticed that the pool was open and swimmers were using the pool. I alerted them to what I saw the day before and wanted to make sure Alliance knew about the problem. I just left a telephone message with your answering service at telephone (512) 328-6100 and left you with my mobile telephone number. By copy of this e-mail message I am notifying the neighborhood residents. Please reply when you have addressed this. Thank you.

Caddyshack comes to mind. Should we drain and disinfect.

Actually you informed people in the children's pool. Not the people that were swimming or doing laps. I am pretty sure the water flows from the childrens pool into the bigger pool, thus contamination is throughout the water and it would be polite to inform other people instead of staring at them when they ask you what is going on when you are only telling the people with children.

Spoke with someone who was in the pool right at 7:30 Saturday night. Apparently the poop was already there meaning it had been there before the lifeguards did their final check between 7:00 and 7:30. Too bad they didn't catch it then.

My husband & I walked to the pool yesterday morning, but didn't swim after reading the notice (above) posted on the main entry door. Thank you for the warmnng!

Yet, when we were walking our dog later in the evening, the sign had been removed. No one was swimming at the time, but if the issue wasn't resolved yesterday I'm afraid unsuspecting swimmers might be at risk.

Actually, the pool was open the first time I saw the notice on the main door over the weekend and people were swimming (yuck). When I returned later to find the notice gone, I didn't try to open the door to the pool. No one was swimming this morning, but again, I didn't try to open the door and there was no notice.

(BTW, there was no official sign. Someone had posted a large print-out of David's original email to Jennifer.)

For anyone still wondering, I just received the following from Jennifer Harvey:

This was called in on Saturday evening and on-call maintenance responded Saturday night, removed the feces and shocked the pool. It then had to be closed for 24 hours as required by health code but was safely re-opened and is open today. I visited with the lifeguards myself today at the pool, everything was functioning properly.
