We took this picture yesterday (November 30) of Emma Long. I believe someone has already closed on the green house on the left about half way down the block.



One of the things that the picture fails to convey is the noise produced by all the ongoing construction. There is plenty of hammering, bulldozing, and miscellaneous construction traffic that creates quite a cacophonous symphony.

Another issue for Mueller's newest residents it that there is also construction vehicles/personnel in the alley behind the houses. This is going to be a huge issue for the folks who live on blocks that are only half complete (like the Muskin houses), because there will be construction personnel clogging up the alleys long after some residents have moved in.

I think in future phases that Catellus needs to more closely consider the timelines for house construction to avoid messes like this in the future. I foresee a lot of my future neighbors having difficulty in the coming months getting into and out of their garages.

Catellus is supposed to be creating a document for homeowners to describe what is expected of the construction crews around completed homes. Supposedly there will be some sensitivity to work around completed homes and homeowner will have recourse to contact either Catellus or the builder (I'm not sure which) for remediation.

I would go ahead and contact Catellus and voice your concern and see where they are with this document, and what their strategy is to handle this.

it seems like the construction workers should only be able to park vehicles with tools/supplies they need in the streets and alleys. there should be a separate parking area for the workers' personal vehicles, in my opinion. it is already very difficult to drive down the streets.

Um...not sure about the rest of you, but I did take the "Pioneer" part of the program into serious consideration when applying. Like the original pioneers, I knew going in as a first resident that there would be a lot of construction still under-way, streets wouldn't be finished, life would be hard and the crops may not come in the first year - oh wait, that part doesn't apply.

This is pretty much what we all signed up for. Granted, I am glad I won't be moving in until the spring, but from the look of half block of still barren field directly behind my house to be, there will likely be some heavy construction still happening even then.

Also, like returning food to the kitchen staff, I'd like the construction workers who are building my house to stay as happy as possible...I'd hate to see what retribution looks like in homebuilding....eep!

That photo demonstrates why parking restrictions are going to be very important. Imagine trying to drive a fire truck or ambulance down that street.
