Roof shingles coming off...
by Kathleen Malcom on March 28th, 2009

Hello. I've found several of my roofing shingles laying around my yard today. I assume they came off in the recent winds & rain, I wasn't home to know if we had hail here on Weds. Question #1 Did anyone else have shingles come off, and #2 Would it be covered under the Meritage warranty or home owners? I'd like to think my roof is sturdy enough to handle these winds on a regular basis.

Side Bar: Kudos to the Boy Scouts who delivered & spread my mulch today! They did a great job and displayed an admirable work ethic.... kat

Serious bummer, Kat. I don't know who has legal responsibility, but I can't imagine that Meritage wouldn't cover the repairs. It seems pretty obvious that the workmanship was deficient, therefore, their responsibility.

I agree with Bobby: Should be covered under warranty.

Roof shingles coming off...

Just wanted to let you know how this story ended. Meritage stated that the shingles had indeed blown off my roof. They stated that they will replace them, HOWEVER they only replace roof shingles ONE TIME during the year long warranty period. I can't say I agree with that warranty policy. If I'm losing shingles more than once during this first year, then I expect them to keep replacing them. Shingles that come off are a result of poor workmanship, unless of course it's an act of nature. I hate to think that if my shingles keep flying off that I am just SOL... kat

Not that it's at all related, but I had the same experience (and the same feeling of being cheated) with a Ford car once. They replace an engine that went out during the warranty period, but when that engine went out -- still within the original warranty period -- they refused to fix it saying they had satisfied the warranty by replacing it the first time.

In your case, a curious question: are they saying they will replace shingles only once, or they will replace a particular shingle only once? That is, if shingles blow off in a different place, will they replace those, even though they replaced some in another spot earlier?

Splitting hairs, maybe ... unless they're your shingles!

Why don't you replace those shingles with new one. According to me your roofing shingles have damaged that's why they are no longer staying on the roof. Call the roof repair https://www.google.com/maps/place/Roof Repair Hollywood FL - Speedy Roofer/@26.0189013,-80.2099502,13z/data=!4m8!1m2!2m1!1sspeedy roofer hollywood fl!3m4!1s0x88d9a97f10a2241f:0xed2da9cf19db9a5b!8m2!3d26.0357191!4d-80.1912623 expert and get it done if you see any problem in future.

It's long time to post reply but if you have warranty then you can immediately hire roofing contractor and get the best repair done on the roof.
