Obviously I don't understand electricity. I've put up lights for 3 years now and never had a problem. This year they stay on for awhile but then all go off. If I push that little button in the garage and the green light comes on all is well. But then they eventually go off again. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I am having the same problem, Debbie. Your GFCI outlet, which controls the outdoor outlets, has gone bad and will have to be replaced. My son will take care of mine one of these days, but what bad timing to have it go out at Christmastime. Apparently the GFCIs have about a 5 year life span.

Where is the GFCI reset button for the outlets?

It depends. You probably have several in the house… they're the outlets with the two buttons and a small light built in. If you're looking for the one that controls any outdoor outlets, it's probably in the garage.
