Before you complain to the city, you should realize that airport noise is a zero-sum game - less for you == more for someone else, unless there are large unpopulated areas near the flight path. It also isn't clear that we are getting more than our share of noise here - on some days, I will hear several early morning planes, and on others none - so it seems that the traffic on a given day will use one of several different "lanes", and the lanes are selected, at least partly, to even things out.
If you're determined to tilt at this particular windmill, you should begin by finding out how air traffic is routed in order to make your case that we get more than our fair share. I wouldn't be surprised if we were - remember that for 10 years, Mueller was that "large unpopulated area" - I'm sure that part of the routing is based on who complains the most.
Since the airport is city owned, you should start here:
http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/austinairport/contactus.htmOne other factor to consider - at least some of the noise you hear may be due to your home's design and construction, particularly the windows. The low-E specification used at Mueller may be useful for energy efficiency but it has little to do with sound transmission. Some of the builders here used good windows, others didn't.
And to answer your question, we are not directly in the flight path from Bergstrom - from the western runway, the flight path would be almost 1 mile east of us.
