Any updates since last year? Those of you who used a consultant, did you succeed in your protest and would you still recommend who you used?

I usually protest my assessments myself but last year after spending 2 hours speaking with the TCAD agent to no avail, I walked across the street to Protax. They got me an even lower assessment than I was asking for. I was very happy with the result especially considering the fact that our values are getting maxed out at 10% every year now.

how much did you pay them?

They take 40% of whatever you save on your property tax bill.

If you're willing to do it, you can haggle their take. Most tax consultants will settle for around 30%.
