I didn't make an appointment on time with either one of these gentelmen this year and went to Jackson Hewitt on Airport (next to Family Dollar). Was quoted $200-$300 for tax preparation and later they tried to charge me $500 (and told me that they don't give quotes!) Walked away after paying the minimum $60 consultation fee and went to the Tax Box at Mosaic. Same price but on Saturdays is P off! So I went with them... Got a huge refund... Two days later they called me to tell me they made a big mistake and I was really getting only a tiny refund... I have to go sign some amendment forms and send back a lot of money to Uncle Sam...
Moral: don't ever go to any of the tax preparation chains or anywhere else where the person doing your taxes is not a CPA. They are too expensive and they don't know what they are doing. They don't have a real CPA looking at your forms!

If anyone is still looking for a CPA for this fall or the future, please give me a call, 512-335-1181. I have been in practice for 30 years. Most of the individual returns I do run between $300 and $500. Business and Fiduciary returns start at $550. I have been a resident of Mueller since March, 2008. My office is located just off 360 near the Pennybacker Bridge. It's fine with me if you drop your tax information at my house. I can deliver your tax returns to your house on my way home (usually around 7 pm or 8 pm during the peak seasons). If you prefer to do some or all of the info transfer electronically, that is fine, too.
