Is there any type of clubhouse available for use for HOA members/Mueller residents?

Anything available at Mueller Central to rent?

Unfortunately, there is no clubhouse, nor is any planned. The Mueller Neighborhood Association has asked Catellus to consider a space for community meetings in future phases. And there is nothing at Mueller Central.

The Ronald McDonald House has a very nice meeting room that seats approx. 25 people (comfortably) that is available to community and non-profit organizations free of charge. Contact Jan Gunter at jgunter@rmhc-austin.org for more information. It tends to get booked several weeks in advance - so ask early.

If outdoors is okay, the covered picnic area with grill in Patterson Park (across Airport Blvd.) can be rented from Austin PARD - check their website for details.

Good luck.

And there's always the Browning Hangar which has been used for special events too.

Might be good to ask Jessica Guerra with Catellus.

Do you think it would be in the realm of possibility that a portion of Mueller Central be converted at some point?

I would hope so, smittyhoo, at least one room made available for meetings of the community. Lack of a clubhouse or central meeting place indoors is a major oversight in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more with queenliz about the lack of a 'community facility' being a major oversight. Am hopeful something will be included in future designs - doesn't have to be an exclusive-use facility, just a place for the community to get together out of the weather. Hard to build community with no place to commune.

Previous inquiries about the hangar have made it seem impossible, starting with a million-dollar insurance bond, or something of the sort. But, yes, an inquiry to Jessica or Dee Desjardin with catellus is the way to find out.

As to Mueller Central ever opening space to the public, it's not likely. As long as Catellus is there, there is really very little space available, and Catellus needs that for their meetings. Also, there's not way they could/would open it after hours, since they would then have to stay on site. After Catellus' work is done - a long time from now - nobody knows. The building belongs to Catellus and they can do whatever they please with it.
